Former Medical Association spokesperson Choi Anna (hereinafter Choi), who ran in the by-election for the chairman of the Korean Medical Association, urged the suspension of medical school recruitment to prevent medical disruptions.
Candidate Choi emphasized in a statement released on the 11th that `The Ministry of Education should withdraw the 2,000-member increase in medical school capacity, and medical school presidents should stop recruiting new medical students for the 2025 academic year.'
After the National Council of Professors of College of Medicine and the National Council on Emergency Measures for Professors of College of Medicine issued a statement containing the contents, Choi said that medical students also voiced the same voice. Aren't you ashamed as a public official, Ministry of Education, who are trying to avoid their responsibilities?", and asked for the withdrawal of the 2,000-member increase in medical school capacity.
Earlier, candidate Choi ran for president and expressed his intention to block the increase in medical schools and reduce the number of medical schools step by step, making it a major pledge to protect pending issues as a pledge.
In response, Choi replied, `It's time to put the brakes on crippling medical reforms"What can no longer be held responsible should not happen" he argued. "All the medical professions must come together to prevent this tragedy and make a decision together," he said.
Meanwhile, candidate Choi said at a debate for the presidential candidate organized by the Medical Association on the 10th that the medical community would come forward to speak out in a single voice.
