The number of meetings and drinks that have been delayed is increasing for Christmas and the year-end holidays. The demand for hangover relief, which appears like 'Gamcho' at drinking parties, is also on the rise.

According to GS25's analysis of the monthly sales index for hangover relief over the past three years, December was the highest at 116.7 on average, followed by November (110.9), October (109.1), and May (108.3). November and December are a period of increasing year-end gatherings and dinners, and the demand for hangover relief is particularly high.

According to NIQ (Nilson IQ) Korea, sales of hangover relief drugs last year increased by about 10% year-on-year to about 350 billion won. The growth rate is noticeable compared to the growth rate of total daily consumer goods (FMCG) and food market sales of only 0.1% and 0.3%, respectively. In particular, stick-type products have quadrupled their share of the overall hangover cure market from 5.1% in the second half of 2021 (July-December) to 21.1% in the second half of 2023.




In the GS25 announcement last month, the sales growth rate of beverage-type hangover drugs was 28.1% and 14.6% compared to the same period last year in 2022 and 2023, and sales of non-drink-type hangover drugs showed a greater growth rate of 54.0% and 25.2%. In terms of sales composition, non-drink hangover relief increased significantly from 29.8% in 2021 to 34.4% in 2023.

Recently, complex products and double formulation products that consider both hangover relief and energy recovery have been released, creating a new trend in the hangover cure market.
