Dec 03, 2024
Kim Ophthalmology Hospital (Director Kim Chul-gu) signed an MOU with TBIOS for clinical research on artificial cornea C-Clear and surgical cooperation at the hospital's Urim Hall on November 28. TBIOS is the first medical device development company in Korea to develop and commercialize artificial corneal C-Clear.
The business agreement ceremony was attended by Kim Chul-gu, director of Kim Ophthalmology Hospital, Jeong Do-sun, CEO of T-Bios, Cha Heung-won, a specialist at Kim Ophthalmology Hospital, and Ko Kyung-min, director of the Corneal Center.
Many of the patients who require corneal transplantation are not receiving adequate treatment due to lack of donor cornea. In particular, donor corneal surgery is often not possible for patients with intractable corneal disease. Kim Ophthalmology Hospital and TBIOS have entered into a business agreement to conduct a joint clinical study of artificial cornea C-Clear for these patients and to provide treatment using it.
Through this cooperation, Kim Ophthalmology Hospital plans to clinically confirm the safety and effectiveness of the developed artificial cornea C-Clear and use it in the actual medical field to help more patients enjoy treatment benefits.
Director Kim Chul-koo said, `I think artificial cornea can be a new treatment solution for many patients suffering from corneal diseases"We expect both organizations to play a leading role in artificial corneal surgery through this agreement."
The cooperation between Kim Ophthalmology Hospital and T-BIOS is the first step toward achieving the goal of realizing patient-centered medical services and overcoming intractable diseases, and is expected to serve as an opportunity for Korean medical technology to shine further on the global stage.
