Dec 16, 2024

Kosin University Gospel Hospital held a Digital Health Global Symposium at Kosin University Seongsan Hall on the 13th in collaboration with Kosin University and Pukyong University Industry-Academic Cooperation Group.

The symposium, organized by the Future Research Center of Kosin University Hospital and the Korea-Africa National Foundation Creation Project, was organized to discuss early diagnosis and prevention projects for women's cancer using digital health technology in third-world regions, including Africa, led by Ok Chul-ho, head of the research division at Kosin University Hospital.

President Lee Jung-ki of Kosin University, Vice President Ha Myung-shin of Pukyong University, Vice President Park Jae-hyung of Eswatini Christian University in South Africa, and Choi Jong-soon, president of Kosin University Hospital, attended the congratulatory speech.

In the first session, three lectures were given on the current status of digital health in South Africa. In particular, the first and second lectures were held with local officials from Africa participating directly through real-time Zoom video conferences.

In the second session, Professor Nam Seung-yoon of Pukyong National University's Department of Medicine and Choi Kyu-nam, managing director of LG Electronics, were in charge of early screening solutions for women's cancer based on artificial intelligence, while Professor Oh Jung-hwan of Pukyong National University, Professor Jeong Seong-ui of Kosin National University Hospital, and Professor Ok Chul-ho gave lectures on the topic of developing a follow-up platform for women's cancer screening under thyroid breast cancer.

Kosin University Hospital, which has been leading the digital healthcare market, has been contributing greatly to saving underdeveloped local health care by using ultra-simple imaging diagnostics for early diagnosis of cervical cancer in South Africa and Swaziland every year since several years ago. In August, a large medical volunteer team conducted volunteer work in South Africa.

We hope that the efforts made in Africa every year, led by Vice President Ok Chul-ho, will be fruitful through the improvement of the local health care environment, said Choi Jong-soon, head of the hospital.
