According to foreign media such as The Sun, Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla and SpaceX and head of the incoming U.S. Trump administration 'DOGE', mentioned the hyperloop plan for high-speed vacuum trains.
Using this, he explained that he could run about 5500 kilometers, which is the distance from London to New York, in just 54 minutes.
High-speed vacuum train hyperloop is a futuristic means of transportation in which trains run floating by making the inside of tunnels almost vacuum to minimize air resistance and allow magnetic fields to flow on the floor. The train is currently predicted to reach speeds of up to 1200km/h, but Elon Musk and some experts predict it could theoretically reach speeds of more than 4830km/h.
The problem is the cost and construction period.
Experts predicted that it would cost up to 20 trillion dollars (about 8,724 trillion won) to become a reality.
However, Elon Musk recently mentioned the possibility of a tunnel and claimed that it could be built at a cost of one-thousandth of the estimated amount. This is about 20 billion dollars (about 28.724 trillion won).
He stressed that building a hyperloop could transform transatlantic travel.
However, The Boring Company, the hyperloop builder founded by Elon Musk, has yet to formally announce plans to build a hyperloop from London to New York.
The long-term construction period is also a variable in tunnel construction.
Experts pointed out that it could take hundreds of years to build and test tunnels.
Meanwhile, a supersonic airliner that can run from London to New York in three and a half hours is being built.
The 'XB-1' plane being built by Boom Technology completed seven of its 10 subsonic test flights. The flight speed ranged from Mach 0.67 to 0.81.
SpaceX, CEO of Elon Musk, is known to be producing a supersonic 'Starship' with 18,000 miles per hour (about 29,000 kilometers) from London to New York in 29 minutes.
Once realized, it takes 51 minutes from London to Sydney, Australia, 34 minutes from Hong Kong, and 29 minutes from Dubai in the Middle East.
