This is because the court ruled that the song 'Million Years Ago' released in 2015 was plagiarism. According to foreign media such as the Daily Mail, a Brazilian court ordered Adele's song 'Million Years Go' to be removed from streaming services worldwide on the 13th.
Earlier, Brazilian composer Toninho Geraes (62) filed a lawsuit claiming to have copied his 1995 samba classic 'Mulheres'.
Experts analyzed that some of the melodies of the two songs are 'symmetric'.
Judge Victor Torres, who ruled 'plagiarism', said he would fine Adele's record label Sony and Universal's Brazilian subsidiaries $8,000 (about W11.5 million) per 'violation of regulations'.
It was not known whether either record label would appeal the decision.
An attorney for composer Geraes said "Radio and TV broadcasters and streaming services around the world will try to be alert to the ruling."
If the ruling is finalized, Adele's song, which has more than 223 million streams on Spotify, the music platform, will be deleted.
In addition, Gerace plans to file a civil lawsuit against copyright loss and ethical damage of $160,000 (about 230 million won). Adele is said to have yet to make any announcement.
This is not the first time Adele's song 'Million Years Go' has been embroiled in a plagiarism dispute.
When it was released in 2015, Turkiye music lovers claimed it was a copy of the 1985 song 'Acilara Tutunmak' by the Kurdish musician Ahmet Kaya.
Kaya became a huge hit in Turkiye after releasing her first album in 1985 and died in 2000 at the age of 43.
At the time, Adele strongly denied allegations of plagiarism, and Kaya's widow, Gulten Kaya, also said it was unlikely that a global star like Adele would do such a thing.
Since then, the controversy has ended and no legal lawsuit has been filed.
