Professor Lee Sang-soo of Hallym University Chuncheon Sacred Heart Hospital selected as the world's most influential researcher in 2024

Lee Sang-soo, an orthopedic surgeon at Hallym University Chuncheon Sacred Heart Hospital, was selected by Clarivate Analytics in the United States as the "High Cited Researcher (HCR)" in 2024.
Clarivate is a global academic information analysis company, and HCR evaluates the quality level and academic contribution of research and selects researchers who have published the top 1% cited papers over the past decade in Crossfield (a study that has exerted influence in various fields). This year, 6,636 researchers were selected from 59 countries around the world, and 75 were named in Korea.
Professor Lee Sang-soo has conducted various studies such as artificial joint, hip joint disease, osteoporosis, sarcopenia, and orthopedic surgery for the elderly to achieve research results. Recently, it has established itself as a world-class scholar by focusing on research in the field of muscle biology.
As a result, 131 papers published in international prominent academic journals over the past decade have been recognized for their contribution to the development of orthopedic surgery-related studies, and these papers have been cited 4,314 times by researchers around the world. In addition, it is contributing to the development of medical treatment by focusing on research to overcome diseases along with improving medical services.

Meanwhile, Professor Lee Sang-soo graduated from Hallym University School of Medicine in 1989 and received a doctorate in medicine from the same graduate school in 2000. Since then, he has played a pivotal role in the growth of the hospital by serving as the clinical director of orthopedic surgery at Hallym University Chuncheon Sacred Heart Hospital, the planning director, and the 16th hospital director. He is currently the director of the Joint Center at Hallym University Chuncheon Sacred Heart Hospital and the director of Hallym University's skeletal aging research center.
