Dec 22, 2024
Shin Young-in, an ophthalmologist at Gachon University Gil Hospital, recently won the 'Excellent E Poster Award' at the'132nd Autumn Academic Conference" held at COEX.
This award-winning study is a study called 'Development of equipment with glaucoma waterproof runoff implants in which anti-inflammatory drugs are locally controlled and delivered in response to near-infrared stimulation'. This study demonstrated that it is effective in suppressing inflammation after glaucoma surgery by confirming the reduction rate of capsule thickness and collagen density at the surgical site using near-infrared sensitive drug delivery glaucoma implants in animal experiments.
The Outstanding E-Poster Award is given to outstanding research presented at the Korean Ophthalmology Society's conference, and all performances were held in the form of E-Poster instead of oral presentations at the 129th conference.
Professor Shin Young-in said, `We are grateful to many of you who helped us with this study,' `If we continue to evaluate the miniaturization and effectiveness of the equipment through further research in the future, we can expect actual clinical use as a next-generation glaucoma implant.'
