Soonchunhyang University Bucheon Hospital Gets Grade 1 Second Blood Transfusion Appropriateness Evaluation

Suncheonhyang University Bucheon Hospital announced on the 18th that it recently obtained the first grade in the second blood transfusion adequacy evaluation announced by the Health Insurance Review and Assessment Service.
Recently, blood reserves have been decreasing in Korea due to low birth rates, aging population, and new infectious diseases, but blood use is still very high compared to other countries. Accordingly, the Health Insurance Review and Assessment Service is conducting a blood transfusion adequacy assessment to manage blood usage and ensure proper blood transfusion and patient safety.
This evaluation was conducted from March to August 2023 for inpatients of health insurance and medical benefits over the age of 18 who underwent transfusion or evaluation surgery at hospital-level or higher medical institutions nationwide.
The evaluation items consisted of four evaluation indicators, including ▲ whether or not to have a blood transfusion checklist ▲ performance rate of the Irregular Antibody ▲ transfusion rate according to the pre-blood transfusion test ▲ blood transfusion rate of surgical patients, and four monitoring indicators including the blood transfusion management performance rate. Soonchunhyang University Bucheon Hospital received high scores in all evaluation indicators and obtained the first grade.
