A teenage girl who was taking pictures on a famous beach in Indonesia was swept away by waves.

According to local media such as Tribune News, 18-year-old Merlin Septiana, posing for a picture on the rocks of Semeti Beach, a famous tourist destination in the Lombok region of Indonesia, was swept away by strong waves at around 3 p.m. on the 19th (local time).

I had an accident while taking turns filming with my friends who went to the beach together.

In the video, a girl wearing headphones and sitting on a rock was taking a picture changing her pose when she was swept away by the rough waves and fell into the sea.

The girl, who struggled to catch the beach rock, eventually disappeared into the sea.

Friends and tourists around tried to save the girl, to no avail.

Rescue teams and police who were dispatched after receiving a report went out to find the missing girl, and she was found dead at around 5 p.m., two hours after the accident.

Rescuers warned "Indonesia's beaches are beautiful, but there are a number of dangers, including strong rip currents, rough waves, and unpredictable tides, so you should stay away from the coasts."
