Hip joint disease, commonly known as degenerative disease caused by aging, often occurs at a relatively young age, so caution is needed. The hip joint has no obvious symptoms in the early stages, and the joint is difficult to fully recover once damaged. Young people may develop osteoarthritis due to poor lifestyle, posture, obesity, and trauma, and may suffer from bloodless necrosis of the femur due to frequent drinking and heavy drinking.

According to the Health Insurance Review and Assessment Service, the number of degenerative osteoarthritis patients last year was 93,079, of which 15,987, or about 17%, were young patients in their 20s and 40s. In the same year, 973 out of 30,175 hip artificial joint surgery patients were in their 20s and 40s. Bloodless necrosis of the femoral head is also common in people in their 30s and 50s, and it is known that men are about three times more than women.

Lee Dong-nyeong, head of the orthopedic surgery department at Mokdong Himchan Hospital, said, `The hip joint is the largest joint in our body that connects the pelvic bone and femur located in the hip, supporting weight and enabling walking"It is caused by degenerative changes or trauma, but problems can also occur due to drinking or blood vessel damage " he explained.

◇Repeat like a bad posture habit…Young people also watch out for degenerative osteoarthritis

Degenerative osteoarthritis is a disease in which cartilage protecting joints is worn out, causing inflammation, pain, deformation, and swelling. Due to the expression degenerative, it is easy to misunderstand that it occurs only in the elderly, but it occurs due to innate or acquired factors, so all age groups should be careful.

The hip joint is an indispensable joint that connects the torso and legs, supports weight every time you move your body, and performs walking and running exercises. Due to the wide range of exercise and the large amount of exercise, degenerative changes also occur rapidly. Even if an abnormality occurs in the hip joint, it is easy to regard it as a mild pain because there are no obvious symptoms in the early stages. However, if a continuous impact is applied to the joint, it can cause extreme pain whenever it is fractured or moved as the tip of the bone grows.

If you repeat the wrong posture like a habit, such as sitting cross-legged or touching your legs, if you gain weight rapidly and pressure your hip joint increases, and if you are overwhelmed, violent exercise can cause degenerative osteoarthritis. In particular, young patients have a high incidence of men when external stimuli such as accidents and collisions and exercise are frequently traumatic.

◇If you drink frequently, be careful of bloodless necrosis of the femur head

Temoral head bloodless necrosis is also a typical hip joint disease that young people should pay attention to. The femoral head, which is a round ball at the upper end of the femur, forms a hip joint with the pelvic bone, and if the blood vessels leading to the femoral head are blocked and nutrients and oxygen are not supplied smoothly, necrosis causes pain.

Excessive drinking and steroid use affect necrosis, and trauma such as femoral neck fracture or hip dislocation, kidney disease, liver disease, and diving disease are also the causes. Drinking is known to increase blood cholesterol levels, allowing blood to easily clot, blocking microvessels and causing necrosis. In the case of Koreans with a unique drinking culture, the incidence of bloodless necrosis of the femoral head is reported to be more than five times higher than in the West.

`In the case of bloodless necrosis of the femur head, it is often acute, and if not treated early, it can lead to widespread damage,' said Lee Dong-nyeong, head of the orthopedic surgery at Mokdong Himchan Hospital. `There are cases of patients with hip bones hesitating due to severe progression as early as 6 months after necrosis or as early as 4 weeks.'

◇It may be mistaken for a waist disc...In severe cases, artificial joint surgery is required

The pain area is ambiguous and often mistaken for a herniated disc, but to distinguish it, it is necessary to determine the presence or absence of pain inside the thigh and discomfort in both legs rather than the waist. The main symptom of hematogenous necrosis of the femoral head is stiff pain in the area between the hips and thighs. If the symptoms of crotch and hip pain persist for more than a week or two for no reason when you wake up in the morning and you limp, you can suspect the initial symptoms. If the symptoms worsen, you may limp along with pain, or your legs may be a little shorter due to the hesitation of your joints due to femoral necrosis. Because hip diseases have few initial symptoms and often worsen after the onset, it is important to visit a hospital to be diagnosed and treated early if there are some suspected symptoms.

Artificial joint surgery is necessary if the degree of pain and damage is so severe that daily life is impossible due to the disease.

Hip artificial joint surgery changes the acetabulum and femoral head of the pelvic bone, the area where the pelvic bone meets the femoral bone, and recently, robots have been introduced to hip artificial joint surgery, increasing accuracy and stability by precisely controlling the size, angle, and tilt of the artificial joint. In particular, artificial joint surgery due to bloodless necrosis of the femoral head of young people requires correction of leg length and use of artificial joints for a long time, unlike surgery of the elderly, and more accurate and safer surgery is possible with robots.
