'Land of Happiness' tells the story of 'Park Tae-ju', who was involved in the assassination of the president by orders of his superiors on October 26, 1979, and a lawyer 'Jeong In-hoo', who entered Korea's worst political trial by defending him.
The teaser trailer released shows three characters standing in an era of upheaval that penetrated 10.26 and 12.12 that shook the entire Republic of Korea under intense gunfire.
First, there are images of the intelligence chief's secretary 'Park Tae-joo'(Lee Sun-kyun), his lawyer 'Jeong In-hoo'(Cho Jung-seok), who does his best to make a legitimate trial, and the joint chief 'Jeon Sang-du'(Yoo Jae-myung), the center of huge power that controls the outcome by bugging the trial in a closed room, raising questions about how the case will end.
'Land of Happiness' is a new work directed by Chu Chang-min, who directed 'Gwanghae, Man Who Became King' which drew 12.32 million viewers, and contains a solid story and heavy message that penetrates the times. As this work was created by cinematically reconstructing the hidden story behind historical events that everyone knows, expectations from prospective audiences are already gathering.
The scaled court scene in the teaser trailer and the appearance of Jung In-hoo ', who is angry at the times and devotes all his energy to the defense, make us more interested in how we would have solved the hottest trial story of the time, even though we didn't know it.
The movie 'Land of Happiness' is scheduled to be released on August 14.
