The movie 'Escape: Project Silence' has revealed an exciting behind-the-scenes look at the numbers.
'Escape: Project Silence' (hereinafter 'Escape') maintains extreme tension throughout the running time by implementing a thick fog effect on 90% of the total amount of the work against the backdrop of the airport bridge where the fog watch was expressed. Director Hong Kyung-pyo installed huge lights throughout the ceiling of the set to give a certain lighting in accordance with the characteristics of the movie, which tells the story of an overnight time in one space, and raised reality by finely controlling the color change and intensity of light in accordance with the passage of time in the movie. On top of that, with the subtlety of controlling the concentration of smog in each scene, the unique mood of 'escape' has been completed.
The production team had to make every effort to realize the scene of a series of crashes on the Airport Bridge. In particular, the initial scene of the 100-car crash maximized the sense of reality by making a set of 200m roads at the Gwangyang container dock and crashing real vehicles in a series. Since then, most of the filming has been reminiscent of the actual bridge construction site, including recruiting the largest 1,300 pyeong set in Korea, laying asphalt on the floor and mobilizing heavy equipment. The production team said that the set of due diligence levels was filmed sequentially by dividing the sections into 80m long and 30m wide for each disaster situation, indicating an overwhelming scale.
Following the actual production of a set comparable to the Airport Bridge, more than 300 vehicles were said to have been mobilized for the scene of the 100-car crash, adding to the surprise. Based on various news, articles, and traffic accident investigation reports, the production team thoroughly analyzed the types and sizes of accident vehicles, driving speed and spacing between vehicles, lanes, floor materials, and weather factors such as wind and fog. Based on the results, more than 300 vehicles were filmed with a difference in the degree of damage, further enhancing the details. Thanks to the efforts and passion of the production team, the actors were able to immerse themselves with a vivid sense of fear as if they were actually at the scene of the accident.
Eleven military experimental dogs 'echo', which terrorized survivors as well as spectacular disasters such as helicopter crashes, tank lorry explosions and bridge collapses in the play, were also a pillar of the entire VFX. Dexter Studio, which was in charge of VFX, searched all the videos related to the dog's movement, designed the appearance and skeleton of 'eco', and recruited a real dog to observe each movement and shoot. On top of that, a martial arts team that trained dogs' movements over several months and mastered quadruped walking embodied the fast and threatening movements of 'echo', wearing blue suits and keeping pace with actors and cameras. From the leader 'eco9', 11 experimental dogs that gave each characteristic, such as the muscular action leader 'eco8', the sleek race dog 'eco23', and the watchman 'eco30', appeared to complete the organized team in the movie.
Meanwhile, 'escape' is a story of people struggling to survive out-of-control military experimental dogs released on the airport bridge on the verge of collapse and will be released on the 12th.
