On the 15th, CJ ENM Drama Project 'O'PENING 2024' first work 'Daughter of Deokhu' (played by Kim Min-young, directed by Kim Na-kyung) was broadcast. The one-part one-act play 'Deokhu's Daughter' is a human comedy about a daughter who goes out to find a mother who disappeared with public funds from a fan club and learns the true nature of her mother she never knew. It is well-received that the three beats of script, direction, and acting match perfectly and showed the beauty of a one-act play. The broadcast viewership averaged 3.8% and up to 4.7% based on households in the metropolitan area, and ranked first in cable and general service at the same time, averaging 3.6% and up to 4.4%. There are Oh Jae-geum (Kim Jung-young), a mother of a maniac, and Shin Seo-hyun (Ha Young), a daughter who cannot understand such a mother. Oh Jae-geum, who suddenly goes to the police station because she is a fan, and even sells her favorite trot singer Lee Yi-kyung to her daughter's in-laws at the meeting. Shin Seo-hyun, who is busy ahead of her marriage, is tired of taking care of her mother-in-law. In the end, I told my mom "I'm embarrassed!"Don't come to the wedding," he even said bluntly.
Soon after, Shin Seo-hyun heard shocking words from Lee Mi-sook (Bae Hae-sun), the chairman of Lee Yi-kyung's fan club. Oh Jae-geum disappeared with 50 million won in public funds for the fan club. Lee Mi-sook said she would report Oh Jae-geum if she did not fill up 50 million won by the day of the concert. Shin Seo-hyun searched for her mother everywhere, but there was no sign of her.
In the process, Shin Seo-hyun came to know the real appearance of 'Mom Oh Jae-geum' that she didn't know, maybe she forgot completely. Oh Jae-geum, who lost her husband at a young age, left the house with her young daughter at the mother-in-law's harsh bruising. And to feed my daughter, I lived so hard that I didn't do anything I didn't do since the bathhouse gentleman. I couldn't even go to meet my daughter's school on a rainy day because I was eating and living, but for Oh Jae-geum, my daughter Shin Seo-hyun was everything in life.

Shin Seo-hyun thought that Oh Jae-geum spent her fan club's public funds on her wedding expenses and disappeared, and that maybe somewhere might hurt. And I cried a lot because I was worried about my mother who disappeared. On the day of Lee Eekyung's concert. Shin Seo-hyun handed over the hard-won 50 million won to Lee Mi-sook, the president of the fan club. Then Oh Jae-geum, covered with dirt, appeared. It turned out that Oh Jae-geum was in danger while pursuing Lee Mi-sook, a fraudster who illegally gambled with public funds from her fan club. Lee Mi-sook tried to cheat not only Oh Jae-geum but also her daughter Shin Seo-hyun. Oh Jae-geum returned safely and Lee Mi-sook was caught, which ended the case. Since then, Shin Seo-hyun was moved to find out that Oh Jae-geum liked Lee Yi-kyung because she sang 'Sunset Day' well, which she often sang. In response, Shin Seo-hyun recruited Oh Jae-geum's favorite Lee Yi-kyung as a wedding singer on her wedding day, giving Oh Jae-geum happiness.
'Deokhu's Daughter' is a subject of 'Deokhu Culture' that captivated the 50s and 60s generations, depicting the relationship between a mother and a daughter who are close and distant. On top of the fresh story, actors such as Kim Jung-young and Ha-young flew with their outstanding and in-depth acting skills. The flexible directing ability, which stood out and led to heartbreaking empathy, was also outstanding. On top of that, Lee Yi-kyung, who sang and performed more than a special appearance, was also impressive. It was a time when many viewers, especially mothers and daughters in the world, laughed, cried and sympathized.
'O'PENING' is a drama project composed of new writer works produced through CJ ENM's new creative support project O'PEN, which was highly praised for its free form and novel attempts. As the first work 'Daughter of Deokhu' announced a good start, I am looking forward to the second work 'Opening 2024' which will air on tvN at 8:50 p.m. on August 19th.
