Coach Kim Yong-wan met with Sports Chosun at a certain place in Samcheong-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul on the morning of the 2nd and held an interview to commemorate the opening of 'Dolpung'.

Director Kim Yong-wan, who directed the movie, is said to have immersed viewers in a single play by focusing only on solid scripts and characters themselves rather than visual techniques by showing delicate productions without genre limitations from comedy to mystery thrillers. Shortly after its release, 'Dolpung' also topped the category of 'Korea's TOP 10 Series' today.
Director Kim Yong-wan told an anecdote about the casting of actors Seol Kyung-gu and Kim Hee-ae, which had been a hot topic even before its release. He told the behind-the-scenes story, "'Kim Hee-ae's love for the script by Park Kyung-soo was great, and he was the first to be casted.'" "After that, he delivered the script to actor Seol Kyung-gu himself to see if he thought it was a good script, and the miraculous casting was completed."
He said "I couldn't believe they were such great actors in such a good script, and there was no reason not to do it from the standpoint of the director."
Regarding the reaction of people around him immediately after the release of the work, "I'm not looking for reactions because I'm so nervous, but I'm grateful for the good stories."I know that many fans have been waiting for Park Kyung-soo's work for a long time, but I'm glad to hear that he didn't disappoint the fans."," he added.
Director Kim Yong-wan then drew attention as he picked the movie starring Seol Kyung-gu as a work that made him dream of becoming a director. He said, "Seol Kyung-gu's performance in "Peppermint Candy" was truly remarkable, and it inspired many people who dreamed of working in movies at the timeI was so surprised when I heard that Seol Kyung-gu was cast," he said, expressing his overwhelming feelings. He "I didn't think he would challenge the drama, but even after the work was over, I didn't know if it was a dream or a reality. We've lived together for about a year while filming, but he's really easy-going and shy. to the point where it feels like 'I'm learning from heaven' It was also amazing that the person who was an idol came down to reality and stepped on it, and he seemed to be the standard for the job of 'actor'. I feel like I've grown even more as a director."
Kim Hee-ae's passion for acting was also mentioned. He said " (in Kim Hee-ae's play) there was little NG despite the huge amount of metabolism. I had to choose which version to make the character look more attractive"I felt a strong sense of camaraderie because he was a girl fan who loved the work itself so much."
However, due to the nature of the drama, which deals with politics, the barriers to entry are high, and there were also concerns that it may not appeal to overseas viewers properly because it is a content that is released at the global level. In response, director Kim Yong-wan said, `I hope you will focus on the beliefs of a human being and the fall of it, rather than on the times or background devices." We then made efforts to refine (such concerns) from a directing perspective. Nevertheless, there are certainly parts that cannot be helped. Because it's a story about modern history. However, I believe it is right to leave the interpretive part solely up to the viewers. It can be interpreted differently depending on their values. Also, I think it is more valuable because I think it is good to interpret good works in various directions."
Next, when asked how he wanted 'Dolpung' to be talked about, he said "I hope that those who started watching for fun will eventually have political concerns and interests."," he replied. In the meantime, "I hope it will remain in the memory of the viewers as a work with a rich reverberation." If you start watching once, you will know what the reverberation is."
The movie is available on Netflix, which depicts the intense and constant events of the prime minister and the deputy prime minister for economic affairs in the background of the conflict and political situation over the presidential disaster.
