▶ In a lot of love 'She Who Differs Day and Night' ended. How do you feel about finishing the drama?
"Watching the drama and the making video reminded me of many warm and fun days at the scene once again. I was grateful to be able to recall it again, and it was new and fun to see the scenes that I only read in the script and imagined from the viewer's point of view."
▶ In the play, beauty creator Do Ga-young was transformed into a role and caught the eye with her slick passionate performance. What did you prepare specifically for setting up your character as a beauty creator?
"What I prepared functionally for the character Do Ga-young was that I practiced makeup while taking makeup classes. I thought that if you are a 1 million beauty creator, you should have basic knowledge of beauty and detail when you put makeup on Mijin. So I wrote the script for the content in the play while practicing how to hold hands, tools, and how to touch the face. I remember practicing happily because I wanted to learn how to do makeup."
▶ What do you think are similarities and differences between Kim A-young and Do-young?
"I found something in common between me and Ga-young in many areas. Ga-young seemed to have filled the vacancy of her family with Mi-jin since she was young. So I thought that if it was Mi-jin's job, she would be stepping up. I also have a best friend, and in my relationship with him, they take each other for granted and understand no matter what they look like! I think Ga-young and I look alike in that area. And the difference between A-young and Ga-young is that Ga-young is full of confidence and self-love. If you look closely at Ga-young's room, her picture is hung in the room. That's the difference. I tend to be cool with myself. I try to look at it objectively.
▶ In the play, Lee Jung-eun and Jung Eun-ji showed their close chemistry, adding to the fun of the story. How was your chemistry with the actors you played with?
"It was so new and fresh. When I was acting with Eun Ji, I thought it would be nice to see a lot of 'real chemistry without secrets', but as I spent time talking with Eun Ji, I got closer and more comfortable. So when I was acting with my senior, I think it was just 'My friend Mi-jin' itself. On the other hand, I thought it would be fun to have a chemistry with Jung-eun who is unfamiliar and awkward, but somehow familiar with my real friend. When I acted with Jung-eun, I had different chemistry from what I practiced, so there were many times when I felt really alive while acting. So when the cut sign comes out after taking a picture with my senior, it was good just now', I remember acting with excitement, saying, "I think I was just alive." It was really fun. I went to the scene with excitement with the expectation that 'what kind of chemistry will I have with my senior today?' In fact, Jung Eun and Eun Ji gave me a lot of warm encouragement and took good care of me. I thought that might be the part where the two seniors are similar. You're both lovely and cool. She's always like a warm and cool sister to me. So rather than being nervous, I was able to act with two seniors. I always carry a lot of tension when I go to the site, but this time, I remember going to the site with a good feeling of tension and excitement. I want to take this opportunity to say thank you."
▶ What's the most memorable episode on the set?
"At the beginning of the shoot, the director called me separately and told me to do whatever I wanted, thinking that there was no camera and that I could lie down or move. I think I was nervous in the beginning, but thanks to the coach's words, I was able to be freer on the spot as the episode passed. Not long ago, when I watched the filming on the show, even I couldn't remember the gestures and acting. 'I acted like that?' That's what I thought. It's an action I didn't prepare, but I thought that the scene was that comfortable. And the most memorable scene was when Mi-jin said 'I'm Mi-jin' with Soon-i's face, and Ga-young came home. I was even curious about how to realize a situation that is difficult to achieve realistically, but I remember that while rehearsing with Jung-eun, the chemistry was different from what I had been practicing, so I had a lot of fun filming it."
▶ What did you learn as an actor through 'She Who Differs Day and Night'?
"'Day and Night Girl' is a work that I've learned so much. I think the biggest thing I felt was that I learned to be a little lighter. I need to practice a lot to make me feel comfortable, but there are many things that I feel and gain in the field. I thought a lot that I should become more flexible and lightweight."
▶ I also wonder what kind of work it will remain for Kim Ah-young.
"'Day and Night Woman' will be memorable as 'Dogaville', which is the house Ga-young lives in. When I go to Ga-young's house, many staff members are crowded, but when I went to shoot, I felt like I was going to a crowded relative's house. At home, you have your own actions and freedom that others don't know about. Thanks to the director who trusts me, many staff members, and seniors who act with me, I think I will keep it in my heart as a work that Ga-young performed freely at home."
▶ He is growing as an actor by expanding his acting spectrum. Is there a genre you want to try in the future?
"I want to try the thriller genre. The more I act, the more difficult and interesting it is to create characters while imagining things that I have not experienced. If you were a warm-hearted person to be around this time, I would like to play a cold-blooded person with no blood or tears next time."
