The romance around the turbulent neighborhood of tvN's Saturday-Sunday drama 『Mother, Friend, Son" (played by Shin Ha-eun, directed by Yoo Je-won) was different from the beginning. From the reunion of Choi Seung-hyo (Jeong Hae-in) and Bae Seok-ryu (Jeong So-min), both black historical records, to the wild daily life of Hyereung-dong, where the two grew up together. It led to favorable reviews by providing a healing full package equipped with pleasant laughter, excitement, warm empathy and comfort.
The audience's response was also unusual. It started to increase its ratings in just two episodes, and swept the topical charts from the first week of the show. According to the results released by Fundex, the official platform of Good Data Corporation, it ranked second on the TV-OTT integration chart in the third week of August, especially in terms of the popularity of performers, Jung So-min (1st) and Jung Hae-in (2nd) were named side by side.
While Bae Seok-ryu declared to be a happy unemployed daughter, Choi Seung-hyo followed him back to Hyereung-dong, arousing excitement and curiosity at the same time. The story after the reunion of those who meet again as `youth man and woman' instead of 'Children man and woman' and start living next door in Hyeneung-dong raises expectations.
▶ Jung Hae-in X Jung So-min, bickering chemistry and sweet-spirited Tiki-taka
Choi Seung-hyo and Bae Seok-ryu, who had already been in a relationship since birth, were 'Um Chin-ah' and 'Um Chin-Daughter', were 'Chin-Chin' itself. The two were full of diss and rude talk instead of welcoming greetings even in their first reunion in a long time, and it was like a familiar routine to bickering without losing a word to each other. The childish and lively appearance of those who are more like family than family, but who cross friendship and love and hatred, made me smile just by looking at them. There were Jung Hae-in and Jung So-min, who created better-than-expected chemistry. As he predicted his rise to Wannabe 'male friend and female friend', the sweet and cutthroat tiki-taka of the two stood out. I wonder how their friendship will turn into love.
▶ Hyerung-dong Family's fun synergy! Various characters and relationships completed with passionate performance
We can't forget 'Hyeneung-dong Family', which is joined by trusted actors such as Park Ji-young, Cho Han-chul, Jang Young-nam, and Lee Seung-joon. Bae Seok-ryu made a problematic comeback along with the all-time major accidents of breaking up and quitting. As a result, Na Mi-sook (Park Ji-young), Bae Geun-sik (Cho Han-cheol), Seo Hye-sook (Jang Young-nam), and Choi Kyung-jong (Lee Seung-joon) all participated in the night of Hyereung-dong, which was in a state of turmoil, creating a fun synergy that could not be taken away from unpredictable comic reactions. Jeong Mo-eum (Kim Ji-eun) and Kang Dan-ho (Yoon Ji-on), who had an unusual relationship from the first meeting, the four middle-aged but girl-minded "Sugsu Sisters", and the various characters and relationships of the Hyereung-dong family filled the play more abundantly and raised expectations for future activities.
▶ The story of all of us who are ordinary and special to call reality empathy (feat. family, youth, love)
It's a full-option drama with "Mom" and "Friend" and "Son (daughter)" as well. As the author explains, "'Mother's Friend Son' caused excessive immersion from the beginning with a realistic story that anyone could relate to at least once. Above all, the scene in which the conflict between Bae Seok-ryu and Na Mi-sook's mother and daughter reached its peak in the second episode drew deep sympathy from the perspective of mother and daughter and stimulated viewers' tears. Attention is drawn to the stories of families who have their own stories, young people who are shaken between dreams and reality, and those who cross love and friendship.
The third episode of tvN's Saturday-Sunday Drama 'Mother, Friend, Son' will air at 9:20 p.m. on the 24th.
