Actor Choi Min-sik expressed his belief about the increase in movie ticket prices, and a KAIST professor strongly criticized it.

Choi Min-sik, who appeared on MBC 'Son Seok-hee's Questions', which aired on the 17th, talked about various things under the theme of 'Crisis of Film, the Way of an Actor'. In particular, he expressed his opinion on the increased price of movie tickets, mentioning the crisis facing the film industry due to the rise of OTT services after COVID-19.

Choi Min-sik said, `It is also true that the movie industry is facing a crisis due to OTT. However, the movie had a lot of regrets due to the limitation of running time, and OTT evaluated it as positive in that it could be free from time constraints and add freedom of creation." You can't blame the environment. Change is already taking place, and we have to adapt to it," he added.

At the same time, Choi Min-sik urged a reduction in ticket prices, saying, `Currently the price of a movie ticket is 15,000 won, but wouldn't it be better to watch several movies on streaming services at that price?' He pointed out the practical problem, saying, `If you row when the water comes in, if you suddenly raise the ticket price, the country won't go to the theater.'

However, Lee Byung-tae, a KAIST professor, directly hit Choi Min-sik on his Facebook page on the 20th. He added "Have Choi ever donated money for a theater that screened the movie he starred in?," he asked back.

Professor Lee said, `If the price is lowered so that the audience comes and profits increase, companies will voluntarily cut ticket prices"During the pandemic, cinemas faced a bankruptcy crisis, and do you think of cinemas as philanthropy?"

Then "If the market price can be set as desired by consumers, there is no business in the world." The same goes for the job as an actor."If you can do business for less than 15,000 won, including a quasi-tax called the Film Promotion Fund, set up a theater and run it yourself."
