'Squid Game' Season 2 Premieres December 26, 2024; Season 3 in 2025

Fans' expectations are rising as the release of the original Netflix series 'Squid Game' seasons 2 and 3 is confirmed. Director Hwang Dong-hyuk, the creator and director of the hit series "Squid Game," expressed his enthusiasm for the new storyline in a letter released on the 1st. He announced that season 2 will be released on December 26, 2024, and season 3 will debut in 2025.

Director Hwang Dong-hyuk began the letter with the powerful phrase, "The real game will begin." He focused attention on Sung Ki-hoon, the protagonist who hinted at revenge at the end of season 1, raising curiosity about whether he will rejoin the game to fulfill his vengeance. The director also heightened global fans' expectations by hinting at new participants and confrontations in the upcoming seasons.

A new look for Sung Ki-hoon, the sole survivor of season 1, has been revealed. Sporting shorter black hair and green sweatpants, Ki-hoon's appearance stirs intrigue about how he re-enters the game and what new challenges he will face.

Season 2 of "Squid Game," set to be released worldwide on Netflix, will feature returning cast members such as Lee Jung-jae, Lee Byung-hun, Wi Ha-joon, and Gong Yoo, alongside new additions Shim Ji-wan and Kang Ha-neul, promising a richer storyline.

However, the casting has sparked some controversy. Notably, past controversies involving figures such as Big Bang's T.O.P (Choi Seung-hyun) and Oh Dal-soo have resurfaced, raising concerns among some fans. It's already been almost three years since the unbelievable events of season 1. I am very happy and excited to write you a letter informing you of the release schedule of season 2 and the news of the production of season 3.

On the first day of filming season two, I remember feeling a bit surreal, thinking, "Wow, I'm back in the world of Squid Game and I'm filming this." I wonder what the world of Squid Game will feel like for you when you see it again after three years.

Sung Ki-hoon, who hinted at revenge at the end of season 1, returns to participate in the game. Will he be able to take revenge as he promised? The Front Man who greets him will be even tougher this time. The fierce battle they engage in will continue into season 3, the long-awaited finale, which will be released next year. I am truly happy to be able to develop the seeds of ideas that sprouted while envisioning a new Squid Game journey through the storyline that spans season 3.
