There is a heated debate among viewers over the bed scene in tvN's Saturday-Sunday drama 'Mother, Friend, Son'. Unlike dramas in which stimulating production is often a problem, this time, the overly nice and neat bed scene was opposed to being rather cliché and boring.
In the 13th episode of 'Um Chin-ah', which aired on the 28th, Choi Seung-hyo (Jeong Hae-in) and Bae Seok-ryu (Jeong So-min) spend their first night after developing from an old friend to a lover. This scene was expected to be a significant moment when the emotions of the two reached their peak, but it was evaluated by viewers as awkward and plain.
The two, lying side by side on the bed, continued their conversation while looking at the front with their shoulders exposed, but the directing led without any change in posture reduced the level of immersion. Viewers are like students returning from an English camp, rather than a male and a female bed", 'Awkward touch and neat appearance hindered Bedsin's emotional delivery" expressed dissatisfaction.
Bedshin is an important turning point in the drama and is a god who captures an emotional and dramatic flow. However, it was pointed out that Bedshin of 'Um Chin' was overly cautious, and that the emotion was not properly expressed even though it was a moment when the relationship between the two was rapidly advancing.
Despite the evaluation that the level of immersion was broken, there was no significant impact on drama ratings. The 13th episode, which aired on the 28th, ranked No. 1 in the same time period with an average of 5.9% in the metropolitan area, up to 6.9%, and an average of 5.4%, and up to 6.4%, respectively, based on Nielsen Korea's paid platform. Although the evaluation was mainly due to a solid story, many viewers expressed regret that if there was a bed scene that added a realistic sense, the viewership would have been higher along with the immersion of the drama.
Meanwhile, tvN drama 'Mom Friend Son' is about a romance between a woman trying to reboot her life and 'Um Chin-ah', who knows her past, and airs every Saturday and Sunday at 9:20 p.m.
