It's still popular when it's over.."Black and White Cook" tops programs loved by Koreans

According to the results of Gallup Korea asking 1,001 people aged 18 and over nationwide on October 22-24, 2024, who are most popular these days (up to two free responses), Netflix entertainment 'Black and White Cook: Cooking Class War' (hereinafter 'Black and White Cook') topped the list for the second consecutive month with a preference of 7.8%.
'Black and White Chef' is a cooking survival program in which 80 unknown masters (aka 'Black spoon') who are proud of their best challenge 20 star chefs ('White spoon'), and compete fiercely only for taste. Jongwon Baek, the only Michelin three-star restaurant owner in Korea, Ahn Sung-jae, who has shown various food-related entertainment since he created a craze for 'Home Meal Chef Baek'(tvN) in 2015, appeared as a judge.
Kwon Sung-joon ('Napoli Matpia', who won the final match by beating white spoon Edward Lee (Lee Gyun), Kang Seung-won ('Triple Star'), Kim Mi-ryeong ('Imokase No. 1'), Yoon Nam-no ('Cooking Doll-Ai'), Jang Ho-joon, Jung Ji-sun, and Choi Hyun-seok (eight semi-finalists) drew extraordinary attention and revitalized the restaurant and distribution industry. From September 17th to October 8th, the entire series (episode 12) was released four times, and the production of season 2 was confirmed with the aim of releasing it in the second half of next year thanks to its huge popularity.
Black and White Cook is the first web entertainment to top a survey of preference programs that have expanded from traditional TV to broadcast videos, and the second No. 1 production of Netflix itself. Last year, several OTT programs ranked in the top 10, including 'The Glory' (Netflix, No. 1 in March 2023) and 'Moving' (Disney+, No. 1 in September 2023), but this year, only one episode was 'Dropung' (Netflix, No. 5 in July).
The second most popular TV program this month is tvN's weekend drama 'Jungnaei'(4.4%). It is a story in which natural sound genius 'Yoon Jeong-nyeon'(Kim Tae-ri) and hardworking group Su-jae 'Heo Young-seo'(Shin Ye-eun) grow up through competition and solidarity in the Maeran Guk Theater Company led by 'Kang So-bok'(Ramiran).
Through the scenes of stage performances in each play, it shows the splendid charm of women's Gukgeuk, which is not accessible to Xu now. In particular, the actors who are known to have prepared pansori, dance, and gukgeuk for one to three years to play the role of an all-round 藝 troupe stand out. OTT platform TVing also releases 'Full Version of the Korean Drama in the Late Age' including unreleased videos. It is based on the webtoon of the same name, which won the Bucheon Cartoon Awards this year.
MBC's single-life entertainment show 『I Live Alone』 (3.4%) came in third place, Cha Seung-won and Yoo Hae-jin's tvN"Three Meals a Day Light" (3.2%) came in fourth, Park Shin-hye ('Gangbitna') and Kim Jae-young ('Handaon') lead SBS's Friday-Saturday drama 『Judge from Hell" (2.8%) came in fifth, and KBS2 weekend drama starring Jeong Hyeon ('Seo Kang-ju') and Geum Sae-rok ('Ida-rim') lead KBS2 weekend drama 's ironing family' and SBS longevity entertainment 'Running Man' (hereinafter 2, KBS1's evening one-day drama starring Park Ha-na ('Meng Gong-hee') and Park Sang-nam ('Clubber') is ranked 10th with 'Let's get married!'(2.2%).
In the top 20, MBC's evening drama starring `I am a natural person''(ENA·SBS Plus), 'My Ugly Baby'(SBS)'(1.7%, tied for 11th),"World Theme Trip"(EBS, 1.6%, 13th), Uhm Hyun-kyung('Yong Soo-jung'), and Seo Joon-young('Yeo Ui-ju'),'Yong Gam-sang Yong Soo-jung','I am a natural person'(1.5%, tied for 14th), Han Chae-young('Moon Jung-in') and Han Bo-reum('Baek Seol-, 1.0% and 20th place) were included.
