The 2021 episode of 'Nevertheless' has formed a lot of mania as the push-and-pull romance between actors Song Kang and Han So-hee evokes excitement and empathy. In particular, it entered the Netflix Global Top 10 TV (non-English) category for seven consecutive weeks, captivating fans around the world who are enthusiastic about K-romance, and in Japan, it remained in the top 10 for 13 weeks, proving its popularity locally.
The remake 'わかっていても The Shapes of Love' will be released in eight episodes, starring actor Ryusei Yokohama, directed by Ryutaro Nakagawa, and director Michihito Fujii as an executive producer. Set in Kamakura, Japan, it will depict the human impulse to fall in love and the emotions of the protagonists who are attracted even though they know they will be hurt.
SLL has recently continued close cooperation with the Japanese content market, including the unveiling of the remake of 'Nevertheless'. In May, SLL CEO Park Joon-seo signed an MOU with Japan's leading private broadcaster TV Asahi for mutual cooperation in the content business sector, and TBS Group's content producer THE SEVEN for joint production of global dramas. Through this, director Lee Jae-kyu of SLL label Film Monster, which is famous for 'Now Our School', and producer Akira Morii of THE SEVEN have begun developing new projects.
SLL, Korea's leading studio, is strengthening its partnership with Japan, which is interpreted as an effort to expand the content production and distribution market globally, away from the limited domestic market. In addition to being geographically close, Japan is one of the large media markets worldwide, and the demand and popularity of Korean content are high. In particular, the drama genre is open to growth potential as it enters the global market, which is expected to be a key point for domestic studios to directly enter the global production market.
Lee Min-jung, head of SLL's global distribution team, said, `I know, but I'm glad to hear that the SLL-produced drama 'I know,' will be remade by Japan's great staff and actors. I think the remake has become a high-quality work with Japan's unique sensibility, outstanding acting, and adaptation that reflects local culture""In the future, SLL will not only be a remake, but will continue to strive to present good works to the Japanese market in various ways.""
