'Culinary Class Wars' Tops Netflix, Season 2 Confirmed

The hit show 'Culinary Class Wars' continues to dominate the box office with news of a second season.

Since its release on September 17, the show has made history as the first Korean entertainment program to rank No. 1 for three consecutive weeks in the non-English category of Netflix’s Global Top 10 TV series. Due to its massive success, Season 2 has been confirmed and is set to be released in the second half of next year, promising even more intense cooking class battles.

For Season 2, Kim Hak-min and Kim Eun-ji, the PDs of Studio Slam who spearheaded the first season, will reunite with Mo Eun-seol to present an upgraded version of the cooking competition. “We’re grateful to have the opportunity to create a second season thanks to the viewers’ support. We’ll work hard to meet your expectations and love,” said producers Kim Hak-min and Kim Eun-ji, expressing their gratitude and ambition for the upcoming season.

'Culinary Class Wars' captivated global audiences with its unique mission, unlike anything seen in traditional cooking survival shows. With dynamic challenges reminiscent of sporting events and martial arts, the fierce competition between the black and white chefs, the grand scale, and the unexpected twists generated a thrill that sparked excitement and dopamine. Above all, the presence of Jongwon Paik, Korea’s top restaurateur and national culinary mentor, alongside Ahn Sung-jae, the chef of Korea’s only Michelin 3-star restaurant Mosu Seoul, was highly praised for bringing “the best flavors” to the show. Jongwon Paik showcased his exceptional insight, deep knowledge, and vast experience in the world of “taste,” while Ahn Sung-jae, renowned for his meticulous attention to detail, evaluated the chefs’ creations with precision, pushing the boundaries of culinary competitions.

The show's domestic popularity was also unmatched. In the first week of October, Good Data Corporation’s Fundex survey revealed that 'Culinary Class Wars' ranked first for three consecutive weeks in both drama and non-drama categories, fueling a nationwide craze that lasted four weeks post-release. It also topped Korea Gallup’s September survey as the country’s favorite program.

Netflix is set to continue the global buzz with more fresh and exciting entertainment shows, including 'Culinary Class Wars' Season 2. Upcoming programs like 'Comedy Revenge', 'Zombieverse: New Blood', and 'Strongest Rugby: Die or Win' are expected to carry the torch of K-entertainment, showcasing the power of K-cooking survival and beyond.

For those who missed it, Season 1 of 'Culinary Class Wars', featuring intense culinary battles among Korea’s top chefs led by the legendary Jongwon Paik, is now available on Netflix.
