Director Ko Bong-soo's relationship with Shin Min-jae has grown steadily with the director's works, starting with the short film 'Jupo' (2015). In the first feature 'Delta Boys' (2017), where the director's original production stood out, Shin Min-jae received great attention in the Korean independent film industry for his outstanding acting skills as Choi Dae-yong, an aspiring singer, and won the grand prize in the Korean competition category at the 17th Jeonju International Film Festival, marking a successful start for the two.
Since then, the two have continued to work together in several works, including 'Toughton's Adventures' (2018), 'Dayoung' (2018), and 'Humidity' (2021) to increase synergy between each other. In this way, director Ko Bong-soo has grown together by raising a new aspect of Shin Min-jae, and has been shining together on the big stage of the San Diego Asian Film Festival.
'GyuleGyule' is a work that unravels the complexity and wounds of human relationships with humor and warm sensibility, and is expected to leave a deep impression on overseas audiences. As he has been invited to the Unknown Pleasure section, attention is being paid to how this work, which contains Asia's fresh sensibility and new perspectives, will react on the global stage.
Meanwhile, the 25th San Diego Asian Film Festival will be held from November 7 to 16 around San Diego in the U.S.
