At a production presentation held at KBS New Hall in Yeouido, Seoul, on the 31st, Park Jin-young shared insights about the screening criteria for the upcoming audition program, 'THE DDANDDARA.' He remarked, “When recruiting rookies for JYP, we approach it differently compared to our previous program, K-Pop Star.”

KBS2's new entertainment program, 'THE DDANDDARA,' presented by Park Jin-young in collaboration with KBS, aims to discover a unique talent with star quality, regardless of the genre, including comedy, acting, singing, dancing, classical music, vocal music, and trot.

As the head of JYP Entertainment, a global music agency, Park Jin-young emphasized his extensive experience in leading vocals, dance, and production. He noted, “I have been involved with K-Pop Star for a long time, and there have been instances where I had to eliminate friends I liked and those who showed star potential simply because they couldn’t sing well. As a producer, I believe that talent alone doesn’t guarantee stardom. It was frustrating to judge based solely on singing ability."

He expressed a desire to evaluate participants with a producer's mindset, stating, “I want to see why someone is a star, even if they can't sing well. I think this program allows for honest judgments. That was the standard we used, which led to the discovery of many unique stars.”

Park Jin-young also simplified the criteria for selection: “It’s about being drawn to the individual. I had this idea of why I find someone attractive as a performer.” He explained further, “The standard for selecting new trainees or singers from JYP remains consistent. If I’m attracted to someone, I can choose them. That’s how we select newbies. Even if someone has exceptional singing skills, if they don’t have that spark, we might question why they weren’t chosen. The criteria for selecting audition artists are the same.”

KBS2’s 'THE DDANDDARA' is set to premiere at 9:20 p.m. on November 3rd.
