At a press conference held at the Film Industry Center in Haeundae-gu, Busan on the afternoon of the 5th, art director Ryu Sung-hee said, `In the past, women's success was considered a coincidence in the film industry,' adding, `I tried to break this prejudice," he said.
Regarding the merits of a job, art director Ryu said, `The retirement age is long regardless of gender between men and women. I'm not a particular genius, I'm a little slow because I started this job because I love it. If you watch the Academy Awards on TV, don't people with white hair receive an art award. Looking at it, I thought 'Wouldn't I become a decent artist if I worked so hard so slowly?' I'm still in the process, so I'm looking forward to myself"What I want to say to female filmmakers is that if you accelerate what you have prepared, you can achieve excellence later. Then prejudice may change in no time," he said.

Art director Ryu swept art trophies at domestic film awards, including the 37th Blue Dragon Film Awards and the 25th Buil Film Awards, with the film 'Lady' released in 2016. In the same year, the 69th Cannes International Film Festival became the first Korean to win the Vulcan Prize and spread Korean film art around the world.
In response, he said, `Every time I receive an award, I feel embarrassed. It's okay to win an award as an independent person, but isn't the movie made by a lot of people. I also thought I shouldn't forget that because I was with my team members. But if there's only one thing I did well, when someone introduces me, it's not the art director 'female', it's just called the art director. Meanwhile, the 29th Busan International Film Festival and Chanel selected art director Ryu Sung-hee as the first winner of this year's newly established Camellia Award. The Camellia Award is given to prominent filmmakers and industry workers who have elevated women's status in various film works. It was established as a Camellia statue with the meaning of camellia flowers, Busan's poetry and first lady Gabrielle Chanel's favorite flower.
