The movie 'Firefighter' will give a deep resonance to the audience based on the moving true story.
The movie 'Firefighter' held a press and distribution premiere at CGV Yongsan I'Park Mall in Ichon-dong, Yongsan-gu, Seoul on the 25th and told the story of the work. Actors Joo Won, Yoo Jae-myung, Lee Yoo-young, Kim Min-jae, Oh Dae-hwan, Jang Young-nam and Kwak Kyung-taek attended the scene.
Released on December 4th, the story of firefighters who were put in with a single goal of extinguishing fire and saving power despite poor conditions during the Hongje-dong fire disaster in 2001, and director Kwak Kyung-taek of the series "Friends" took the megaphone.

Director Kwak, who is about to release the film, said, "'Firefighter' is a movie based on a true story and commemorates someone's sacrifice.'"I wanted to compete with fierceness and seriousness rather than dexterity or technique."," he said of his intention to direct.
'Firefighter' was being prepared to be released after filming in 2020, but its release was postponed indefinitely when lead actor Kwak Do-won was caught drunk driving in September 2022. As a result, Kwak was partially edited out of his work. Director Kwak said "I didn't edit it on purpose to take out the amount of Kwak Do-won." The work was released late, and there was a sense of slowness compared to the trend these days. "We paid attention to increasing the speed at the beginning so that many audiences could enjoy it."
Especially as much as I actually used fire, I couldn't relax throughout the shoot. Director Kwak said, `It was my first time dealing with fire while filming this movie. When I took a test shot, I took some equipment from the outside, and I saw what kind of fire came out depending on the material, and suddenly a big wind blew at once, so I remember that the container was engulfed in flames and suppressed with a fire extinguisher and water in an instant. If I had an accident while filming this movie, I thought it was my fault, so I discussed a lot with the special effects team"Each fire scene was very tense so that the staff and actors would not be hurt."."

The actors also shared their thoughts while filming the work. Joo Won plays Cheol-woong, a new firefighter at the Western Fire Station. He said, "Because it's based on the real story, I was happy and had a lot of fun on the set, but on the other hand, I had a heavy heart."I acted while thinking about the firefighters throughout the shooting," he said.
When asked how he felt about seeing the work, Ju-won replied "I think the director neatly expressed the environment and hard work of the firefighters." Then "It was like that at the time of filming, but it seems that respect for firefighters is growing more and more. In addition, it seems that there are many people who work in bad environments as well as the job of firefighters. I think the movie 'Firefighter' will be watched as they sympathize with it.
Yoo Jae-myung, who became popular as a rescue leader, said, `It was good to see the characters' bright smiles and their daily lives while watching the movie"I also tried to capture the daily life of firefighters. I think each movie has various emotions that the audience feels, but our movie hopes that the audience will open the theater door and leave in memory of the pain of the firefighters," he said of the wind.

Lee Yoo-young, who plays paramedic Seo-hee, said, `I don't know how many times I watched firefighter documentaries before filming. I wanted this incident to be known to many people. Also, it was more heartbreaking because it actually happened, and my heart sank every time the siren sounded"I couldn't even imagine how the firefighters' families would feel when they were dispatched as paramedics." Regarding the reason for participating in the work, he added, "'I really wanted to participate because it was directed by director Kwak Kyung-taek, and I'm so proud to be with you.'"

The family of firefighters who showed the best ensemble also did their best. Kim Min-jae plays firefighter Yong-tae, Oh Dae-hwan plays Hyojong, and Lee Joon-hyuk plays Ki-cheol. Jang played the role of Dosun, the family of the only firefighter.
Director Kwak said, `I'm worried that firefighters will admit that it's their story while watching our movie.' `I'm going to have a premiere tonight with firefighters and their families, and I'm very excited. If the firefighters watch the movie and tell me it's similar to what they saw in the actual scene, I think I did my part with it" expressed his trembling heart.
