In response, the three terrestrial broadcasters, KBS, MBC, and SBS, switched to an emergency news advisory system immediately after the accident and decided to cancel major entertainment programs.
KBS canceled all of its regular entertainment programs for 1TV and 2TV and replaced them with news and liberal arts programs. 'TV Show Genuine Luxury', 'National Singing Contest', '2 Days & 1 Night', 'The Boss Donkey Ear', 'The Ddan Ddan Ddan Ddan Ddan', 'Gag Concert' were all canceled, and a KBS official said, `We do not organize entertainment and comedy programs in consideration of public sentiment in the event of a national disaster.'
MBC is 'Mysterious TV Surprise', 'Let's go! Video travel','The Masked Singer' etc. were cancelled. The scheduled 「2024 Broadcast Entertainment Awards」 also canceled both the photo-time event and the main broadcast, and the awards ceremony was not held.
SBS also released emergency special reports, excluding major entertainment shows such as 'Animal Farm', 'Running Man', and 'My Ugly Baby'. Instead of 'Inkigayo', which was scheduled to air at 1:15 p.m., a special news report was followed, and 'Song Daejeon' and some drama guides and reruns were canceled.
JTBC postponed the broadcast of 『Please take care of the refrigerator』 scheduled to appear in Song Joong-ki and Lee Hee-jun. The interview between actor Hyun Bin and director Woo Min-ho in Newsroom was also postponed. TV CHOSUN, on the other hand, will broadcast current affairs and culture programs such as 『Citizen Heo Young-man's Journey to the White House』 normally.
Unlike entertainment shows, most dramas are broadcast normally.
KBS 2TV's weekend dramas 'The Iron Family', JTBC's 'Occy Lady', Channel A's 'Check-in Hanyang', tvN's 'Love on a Single Tree Bridge' will be broadcast as scheduled.
Meanwhile, Jeju Air Flight 7C2216 from Bangkok, Thailand, collided with the outer wall of the runway while attempting to land at 9:07 a.m. on the 29th. As a result, the aircraft was burned down and the rest of the 181 people, except for the two rescued, are believed to have died.
