Director Woo Min-ho revealed a behind-the-scenes episode of the action film 'Harbin' (produced by Hive MediaCorp) in an interview with Sports Chosun on the morning of the 19th.
'Harbin' is a 1909 work that depicts a breathtaking pursuit and doubt between those heading to Harbin and those who pursue it for one purpose.
Director Woo Min-ho, who was released in a chaotic situation from President Yoon Suk Yeol's declaration of emergency martial law to the impeachment, said, "'Was your wife on me?'They say '. It was something I didn't expect at all. Ahn Jung-geun's narration, which reminds us of the world premiere last September at the Toronto Film Festival, is the same as then and now. In fact, it is a narration that I filled in the front and back with what General Ahn Jung-geun said at the center. It was a narration added in the process of editing after filming, and when I wrote the line, it was the beginning of the new year in 2024. I woke up in my sleep on January 1st and was inspired, I suddenly felt like I needed to reinforce the narration and I added a line in less than 10 minutes like that", he confessed,
Then "I don't know why I did it, no one knows if I felt it unconsciously or what kind of abandonment I felt. The narration line is in a similar context to what General Ahn Jung-geun said. General Ahn Jung-geun naturally knew that independence would not be achieved through this one-time success (Harbin's uprising), and as he said, there is a spirit to do it until it takes 10 years or 100 years, didn't it actually achieve independence 35 years later? In the process of achieving independence, there was also World War II for American power, but I don't think that's important. What's really important is that the independence fighters were fighting until then. I think that's our real victory, I wanted to emphasize that point in my film, so I gave the narration a boost," he added.
It's not just that. Director Woo Min-ho said, `We talked about this with the actors while filming this movie. Even if you don't take a good picture of this movie, it's a movie that the whole nation can watch on TV on March 1st and Liberation Day. So I really thought let's take a good picture. It's a real pain as a director to see a movie that I couldn't film with my own eyes. My body hurts when I watch a movie that I couldn't take. Of course, there is a work that I feel that way. So I wanted this work to be left as a well-made movie, and I hope it will be a movie that General Ahn Jung-geun will not be able to watch, but who will not be for him. I also hope that who is not good for the independent forces who have dedicated themselves and sacrificed their lives for this country. I hope it will be a movie that will give strength and comfort to the public. I hope it will be a comforting movie after people take it out again when they are having a hard time and watch it."
Hyun Bin, Park Jung-min, Cho Woo-jin, Jeon Yeo-bin, Park Hoon, Yoo Jae-myung, and Lee Dong-wook were in charge of the mega-phone. It will be released on the 24th.
