In an interview with Sports Chosun on the morning of the 26th, Park Hoon revealed a behind-the-scenes episode of the action film 'Harbin' (directed by Woo Min-ho, produced by Hive MediaCorp).
'Harbin' is a 1909 work that depicts a breathtaking pursuit and doubt between those heading to Harbin and those who pursue it for one purpose. Park Hoon played Tatsuo Mori, a Japanese army post in the play.
Park Hoon boldly shaved his head to build a character image "At first, director Woo Min-ho suggested. Personally, the movie 'Harbin' felt like a poem. Poetry is unfamiliar, but isn't there something you can feel in each reader? I had to implicitly show my acting in a poem-like movie. So I was offered a shaved head and I thought it would be okay when expressed outwardly. I tried shaved my head when I debuted, and I remember that face. So 'Harbin' needed another face, so I challenged myself to get a scalp tattoo. I changed all my forehead lines from my old self with scalp tattoos. I made the character with such effort and showed it to director Wu in Latvia, the filming location, and he was so happy. It was a good choice after watching the movie. I think it was great with mise-en-scène that allowed the audience to immerse themselves in the character."
He said "Latvia doesn't have many Asians. At that time, Latvian citizens were very scared because they were bulked up and Asians shaved their heads. It was felt and shown to me. So I wore a hat, but when I take it off, the road opens up around me. Watching that, the actors and staff of 'Harbin' laughed. Maybe I thought a weapon was going to come out of my arms. "It's a scary visual, so I went around smiling to look nice, but they said it was scarier."
Park Hoon, who also felt a lot of pressure to act in Japanese, said "I'm Korean, so how good would I be if I acted well?" Still, there was Lily Frankie, who was with her in a difficult role in Korean work, and she hoped that there would be no inconvenience to the Japanese audience. I think I tried to reach an approximation to the naturalness of Japanese acting as much as possible. But it was really hard. I had to act in Japanese, so it felt tricky. "The Japanese teacher explained Tatsuo Mori's feelings and lines in Korean, and he printed them out again in Japanese. After finishing the work, the teacher's Korean acting improved more than mine. He acted so well that I asked him to audition for Korean works later. The process was complicated and difficult, but I'm glad that I acted without regret"I shuddered.
