MBC's new Friday-Saturday drama 'Motel California (directed by Kim Hyung-min, Lee Jae-jin/scripted by Lee Seo-yoon), which will premiere on January 10, 2025 (Friday), is a remodeling romance of the first love that the female protagonist, who was born in a motel in the countryside and grew up in a motel, experiences when she reunites with her first love in her hometown, where she fled 12 years ago.
Based on Shim Yoon-seo's popular novel 'Home, Bitter Home', Lee Se-young will play Ji Kang-hee, an interior designer who has lived a difficult life in the play, and "Nae Nam-gyeol Syndrome" Nine-woo will play the role of natural water whose life has changed completely due to Kang-hee, her first love reunited in 12 years.
Among them, 'Motel California' will draw attention by releasing a melodrama teaser video of Ji Kang-hee (Lee Se-young) and natural water (Nine Woo). The released video raises curiosity with the narrative of the 23-year-old's first love, from the days of a 9-year-old little boy who blossomed into a fresh and cute first love to the appearance of Kang-hee and Yeon-soo, who have become adults.
The teaser video begins with a cute nine-year-old Kang-hee and Oh Dong-tong walking side by side down the dark neighborhood street in the middle of winter while eating ice cream with a bigger school bag than themselves.
While Yeon-soo's kindness, which holds up the little Kang-hee's shoe pocket, brings a smile, Kang-hee's words, "'If you eat 10 times at first sight, your first love will come true.'" The innocent image of the little couple, who alternately eat the first snow and promise to marry, gives viewers a heart-wrenching excitement.
Kang-hee, who has grown into a coy high school girl, and Yeonsu, a high school boy who boasts a big teddy bear-like visual, enjoy a lovely date without paying attention to people around her. The appearance of making an oath of love by hanging the pinky finger, sharing ice cream in a friendly way, arm in arm, leaning on the shoulder, and expressing affection in a friendly way arouses the excitement of a fresh first love.
