Netflix expressed its feelings ahead of the release of Season 2 of 'Squid Game'.

Netflix welcomed the return of the Squid Game at the production presentation for Season 2 held at DDP Art Hall 1 in Dongdaemun, Seoul on the 9th"It's a monumental moment."

The 「Squid Game」 released in September 2021 is gaining global popularity at the syndrome level and is set to be released in season 2 on the 26th. Season 2 of the 'Squid Game' tells the story of a fierce battle between 'Gi-hoon" (Lee Jung-jae), who returns to the game after vowing revenge, and 'Frontman" (Lee Byung-hun), who greets him, and the real game begins again.




Director Hwang Dong-hyuk, who became the first Asian to win the Best Director award at the 74th Primetime Emmy Awards, is directing, writing, and producing again, including Lee Jung-jae, Lee Byung-hun, Wi Ha-joon, Gong Yoo, who returned from season 1, and Lim Si-wan, Kang Ha-neul, Park Kyu-young, Park Sung-hoon, Yang Dong-geun, Kang Ae-sim, Lee Seo-hwan, and Jo Yu-ri, who are newly joining season 2.

As a person who is deeply connected with Korean roots, I am very proud to see him enthusiastic about and fall in love with the stories of Korean creators. I am proud to be able to present a unique Korean story on Netflix. We welcome the return of the hugely popular `Squid Game' on Netflix.

Then "Love from all over the world penetrated foreign currency. There is not much to compare. I've seen people all over the world participating in parties in training suits or guard outfits. It is the highest number of Netflix views in 2024 and ranked on the No. 1 trending video," he said, expressing pride in 'Squid Game'.

Kim Min-young, the VP of Netflix's Asia-Pacific content division, said "It is no exaggeration to say that it has become a cultural phenomenon beyond just a hit movie. 'Squid Game' has exceeded 330 million views, and has set the most amazing record. It's not just about setting records, it's also a topic of global content. It shows the power of a story that unites through universal themes such as human nature. It was possible because of the director's vision and the music director, video director, crew, and actor who implemented it"I was confident.

He was also convinced of the vision, and the whole world showed cheers beyond our imagination. Primetime, Golden Globe Award for the first time in a non-English speaking series. More than 80 percent are watching Korean content. The success of successful works for the popularity of the Korean Wave, which was well established earlier, became a catalyst for expanding the base of Korean content. It's a monumental moment. As a global hub, I'm overwhelmed that I'm seeing a cultural leap forward directly.

Season 2 of Squid Game will be released on Netflix on Dec. 26.
