Initially, MBC said in an official statement at around 12:45 p.m. that day that `Only the photo-time event scheduled for 7 p.m. will be canceled, and the award ceremony will be held.' However, considering the seriousness of the accident, he decided to cancel the ceremony later.
Earlier in the morning, an aircraft from Bangkok left the runway while landing at Muan International Airport in Fiji, Mangun-myeon, Muan-gun, Jeollanam-do. The plane was Jeju Air Flight 7C2216, which was scheduled to depart Bangkok and arrive at Muan International Airport at 8:30 a.m. that day. There are a total of 181 passengers, 175 passengers and six crew members. According to the National Fire Agency, 85 people have died so far. There are 94 people missing and two injured.
Jeju Air said, "We apologize to all those affected by this Muan Airport accident with our heads down.""We will first do everything we can to resolve the accident. We apologize for the concern caused."
