With STUDIO X+U's twilight youth romance 'When the Silver Bell rings' unveiled, director Choi Byung-gil and writer Hong Yoon-jung, who wrote the script, released an exciting backstory.

Released for the first time on the 18th, 'When the Silver Bell rings' (scripted by Hong Yoon-jung/director Choi Byung-gil) is a twilight youth romance that realizes a new love that has bloomed in a life in which desire and reality are intertwined. The main character 'Park Geum-yeon (Song Ok-sook)' meets the man of fate 'Sung Paradise (Park Sang-won)' with a courageous 'Dating App' on a trip he accidentally left alone. And the older sister of smoking cessation 'Park Soo-hyang (Ye Soo-jung)' became a boarding house lady' because of her husband 'Oh Seok-jo (Ahn Seok-hwan)', who believed herself to be a young man in her 20s due to severe cognitive impairment in the early stages. In an unusual situation, the direction of the twilight youth romance that the four men and women will portray will be revealed in the last episode.

Writer Hong Yoon-jung, who drew responses from seniors by awakening the youth hidden in her mind with the movie `Suspicious Girl' starring Shim Eun-kyung and Na Moon-hee, confessed that `I have never thought of seniors as the subject of 'Eros' love when the silver bell rings.' He also predicted that he would throw 'Hwadu' to those who had never thought of love in the twilight, saying, `I wrote a work in a sense like a challenge to myself.'

In response to the kiss scene of smoking cessation and paradise, which became a hot topic for its dense love line, director Choi Byung-gil expressed concern that adult kisses would be burdensome to see", he confessed. But he said "Rather, like a kiss of youth, there were scenes of excitement, palpitations, and love"It announced the birth of a thrilling but warm human drama. The following is a question and answer between director Choi Byung-gil (hereinafter Choi) and writer Hong Yoon-jung (hereinafter Hong).

Q1. I'm curious about how you came to plan a drama aimed at seniors 'When the Silver Bell rings'.

Hong: I've been saying 'I'm a senior writer' since 'Suspicious She's' who's been thinking about and writing about her mother who's been living almost her whole life as a single mother. It was also true that there was a lot of interest in seniors due to the extended sense of debt and love for their mothers. But it wasn't until I was asked to do a drama about `Senior's Love and Sex' that I realized I'd never thought of senior as the subject of erosic love. There were many taboos or barriers to senior love on my own. And then 'Why?The question ' has been raised. Why do we have to return to the appearance of a young 'Oduri' for the protagonist 'Oh Mal-soon' to be loved. I wrote the work in the sense of a challenge to myself, asking the question, "Can't I just love and be loved as it is?"

Q2. I wonder what the title 'When the Silver Bell rings' means.

Choi: 'Silverbell' is the name of the senior dating app in the play and at the same time means the bell of love ringing in Act 2 of life. Our work is a story of courageous people who respond to the bell.

Q3. I think all the 'senior trustbabae' are gathered here. If you have any anecdotes you remember while casting, please introduce them.

Hong: I don't think the people you had in your mind have ever been cast as they are. Thank you for the great work of the production team. I remember what the actors said during the first reading. "At some point, I started to get used to appearing as the main character's father, mother-in-law, and company representative, not as the main character anymore, and I'm so happy and grateful that I can be the main character of the romance myself in this drama." was what I was saying. They say they are entering a super-aged society, but it was also a moment when they realized that it was easy to find drama materials and themes.

Q4. 'One Night' and 'Dating App', which were considered words that didn't fit the middle-aged, appear, and I wonder what you wanted to show your senior's love through this.

Choi: I wanted to break some conventional wisdom that regards the love of my parents' generation as taboo or shameful. I wanted to show that the love of seniors can be as active and passionate as that of youth through dating apps or one night.

Hong: When 'One Night' or 'Dating App', which has become such a universal subject that it no longer becomes a special topic in content about young people's romance, is incorporated into seniors, a surprising narrative is created. The expression "surprised" is used because seniors themselves have a general view that one night or dating apps do not belong to seniors.

Why does senior love usually have a ridiculous, shady gathering or place hidden somewhere like 'climbing club' or 'dance wind' and describe love as close to deviant? Doesn't it feel unfair somewhere? The subject matter of 'one night' or 'dating app' where the relationship begins when the silver bell rings is an expression of my heart that I want love in the drama to be seen as love itself, regardless of age.

Q5. I wonder what part of the scene you wrote (filmed) with the most effort. Or please pick your best line or scene and tell me why.

Choi: It was the first kiss scene between smoking cessation and paradise. This is because there was a part where I was worried that adult kisses would be burdensome to watch, and I thought it would be uncomfortable for the actual actors to act. But when the shooting went in, all the worries disappeared. Rather, the kiss was exciting and pounding like a kiss of youth, and the two of you also shook off the awkwardness and performed enthusiastically through experience. The subsequent love spirits were also depicted as lovely gods that were not burdensome at all.

Hong: If the romance between smoking cessation and paradise is a surface wave, the love between Suyanghyang and Seokjo is more like a wave in the abyss of the sea. I can't see it very well, but the whirlwind that flips the boat...I think that's the history of love and pain that the two have built. Although not as much as Suhyang and Seokjo, I have been married for more than 30 years, and the deeper my love, the more children I have and the more family I have, the more pitiful I look in the world and the more heartbreaking I am. At some point, the rotting stomach fermented, and I felt that pain and happiness were one.

So what Soohyang does to smoking cessation?"You said. Because I love you, I'm worried that I've never had before...You get sick with more weaknesses. It hurts when you're in love. It hurts grossly. But you have to be sick like that to become a person. I like the line "It's a real person who has a lot of weaknesses." It's also my confession.

Q6. I wonder what the atmosphere was like on the set where the seniors were. If there's a funny or touching episode that comes to mind, please share one with your viewers.

Hong: In the first kiss scene of the non-smoking and paradise couple, Song Ok-sook said that she felt so comfortable when filming thanks to Park Sang-won who set her fingertips and eyes countless times during rehearsals. Being active for a long time in your field was a valuable scene where you learned that skills are basic and attitude and personality must be exemplary.

Q7. Please pick a reason why you must watch 'when the Silver Bell rings'.

Choi: Our work portrays senior's love comically and realistically. In particular, I am proud that I created a consensus that encompasses generations by exquisitely mixing the heavy subject of early severe cognitive impairment with the light subject of dating apps. This drama is about the love of my parents' generation, but it's all about us after all. I wanted to convey a hopeful message that excitement continues even when I get older.

Hong: I am proud that not a single scene is a romantic comedy that is boring. Look!
