Netflix will hold a 'Reboot Camp' for emerging creators in the film and video field from the 13th to the 17th with the Film Promotion Committee (Chairman Han Sang-joon, KOFIC) and the Korea Film Academy (Director Cho Geun-sik, KAFA). This camp is the second project that Netflix and KAFA are promoting together after last year to foster future talent in the K-content industry. It will be held at KOFIC Film Education Support Center for 10 selected KAFA graduates, focusing on innovative planning and storytelling education suitable for the global streaming creative environment.
The instructors will include Joe Peracchio, a writer-producer who wrote the TV series 'Deception' and 'The Flash' and Michael Lehmann, who directed 'Flake' and '40 Days 40 Night'. Those who work around the world plan to pass on their rich experience and know-how in film and series production at the reboot camp and provide customized advice to emerging creators through 1:1 mentoring sessions. Also, on the 18th, a writing and directing lecture for KAFA students is scheduled in Busan.
This 'Reboot Camp' is expected to create a special synergy between KAFA, which produced numerous film talents, including director Bong Joon-ho, and Netflix, the top global entertainment company.
Netflix is providing a wide range of educational programs through continuous partnerships with the Korean content ecosystem for shared growth with K-content. In the second half of last year, it launched a 'Grow Creative' education campaign to strengthen its content production capabilities to train systematic talent and exchange technology. From 2022 to the end of last year, Netflix's various programs are targeted at about 2,400 college students and field professionals.
A Netflix official said, `The creators are the driving force behind Korean content, which has established itself as a 'global hub of imagination and creativity' with outstanding narratives and meticulous storytelling,' adding, `We will continue to collaborate with the Korean creative industry to contribute to strengthening the global competitiveness of K-content only.'
