Baek Seung-il, the youngest former and current singer from Cheonha-jangsa, appeared on MBN 'Special World' which aired on the 2nd to share his recent situation.
Baek Seung-il was crowned Cheonha Jangsa at the young age of 17, setting records of Cheonha Jangsa 4 times and Baekdu Jangsa 11 times. He was called the emperor of ssireum at the time and served as a big star following Lee Man-ki and Kang Ho-dong. In particular, he recalled that he joined the professional team after five months of his debut and received a large down payment of 150 million won.
After retiring from ssireum, Baek chose to become a singer, leaving behind the opportunity to turn into a mixed martial artist. But the long life of obscurity was not easy. He invested heavily in music, but the results were not good. I once slept in a jjimjilbang for a month. I wanted to give up, but I couldn't give up because I didn't want to waste the way I walked" he said.
Baek Seung-il especially thanked his wife Hong-ju. He said "My wife even helped me make the record by selling my father's inheritance for me. But even after getting married, the show was cut off and he never gave me a penny," he said, expressing his regret.
Currently, Baek Seung-il has been taking care of his mother, who has been unable to move due to cerebral infarction and herniated disc for four years. He is `Mother's Sickness with his wife. I feel sorry and grateful to Hongju at the same time. I just think that I have to do better in the future."
