Actor Park Kyu-young met with Sports Chosun at somewhere in Samcheong-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul on the 3rd and responded to an interview to commemorate her appearance on Netflix 'Squid Game' Season 2.
Park Kyu-young played the role of a North Korean soldier-turned-North Korean defector in Season 2 of the `Squid Game' who tries to find his daughter who he left in the North while working in a doll mask at an amusement park.
In the play, Noeul receives a business card from a salesperson while working and participates in the game, and Noeul was surprised by the fact that he was a host, not a participant, in the second episode.
Park Kyu-young said, "It was a great honor to participate in Season 1 because it was loved all over the world."At first, I imagined playing the role of a participant, but I was grateful that I could explain a new stem of the world view with the role of Pink Guard."."
After going through two audition processes, he thought deeply about the character 'Noeul' after being cast. "'Noeul is a soldier-turned-North Korean defector who participated in the game with the hope of finding his daughter for the last time with no hope in his life,' he explained. "'He focused on acting so that viewers could understand his complicated inner self.'"
In particular, regarding the fact that Season 2 is loved by global fans, he said, `I have participated in the Netflix series several times, but this is the first time that I have received such a hot response.' `It still doesn't feel real, and I'm just grateful for the reactions from around the world.'
Shortly after its release, season 2 of 'Squid Game' recorded the overwhelming number one spot in the global OTT rankings, which also resonated greatly with Park Kyu-young. She realized anew how much attention the series received worldwide, saying, "I remember having the opportunity to interact with various foreign media through global interviews."," he added.
Meanwhile, season 2 has been gaining worldwide popularity since its release on December 26. According to the global OTT ranking aggregation site 'FlixPatrol', Season 2 ranked No. 1 on Netflix in 93 countries within two days of its release.
