Controversy over damage to cultural properties by the KBS drama team is expected to lead to legal action.

Andong City, North Gyeongsang Province, confirmed that KBS2's new drama "Namju's first night" damaged cultural assets at Byeongsanseowon Confucian Academy and warned of legal action. Andong City plans to proceed with the complaint process after further reviewing the damaged situation with the National Heritage Administration.

The controversy began on December 30 last year when it was revealed that the KBS drama shooting team left five nail marks on the pillar of the Mandaeru at Byeongsan Seowon to install props. The nail marks are known to be 2-3mm thick and about 1cm deep. The filming was immediately suspended, and KBS apologized in an official position, saying, `We sincerely apologize for causing concern to the viewers.'

KBS was able to proceed with the pre-filming permission, but recognized the problem of damage to cultural properties due to complaints from on-site visitors"We are currently discussing the exact situation and recovery plan and discussing the restoration procedure with the officials of Byeongsan Seowon." he said. "We will come up with measures to prevent recurrence."," he stressed.

However, public opinion is cold. Some viewers strongly criticize the drama, proposing a boycott. On the morning of the 3rd, a complaint was filed in the Kookmin Newspaper titled 'KBS Drama Shooting Team's Damage to Cultural Properties'. The accuser called for a thorough investigation and severe punishment, saying, `The damage to cultural properties itself is clearly subject to legal punishment.' Accordingly, the Gyeongbuk Police Agency distributed the case to Andong Police Station and launched an investigation.

In this regard, a KBS official told Sports Chosun that `the head of the KBS Drama Center, who is currently in charge of the drama, visited the Andong site to check the situation and continue to discuss ways to restore it with various officials.'

KBS2's new drama `Having the First Night of Namjoo' is a romance fantasy starring Seo-hyun and Ok Taek-yeon, depicting the story of an ordinary female college student entering a minor role in a romance novel. However, the controversy over the damage to cultural properties is expected to deal a significant blow to the image of the work.
