Director Kim Sung-je (53) met with the audience with the movie 'Bogota: The Land of Last Chance' after a long wait. In particular, he showed special affection by giving a thumbs-up to the efforts of actor Song Joong-ki, the main character of the work.

Released on the 31st of last month, 'Bogota: Land of the Last Chance' (hereinafter 'Bogota') is a story about the story of Kook-hee (Song Joong-ki) heading to Bogota, Colombia, on the other side of the world with new hope immediately after the IMF, intertwines with Sooyoung (Lee Hee-joon) and Byeong-jang (Kwon Hae-hyo), influential figures in the Korean community in Bogota. Director Kim Sung-je of the movie 『Minority Opinion』 took the megaphone.

Director Kim, who met with Sports Chosun ahead of the release of the film, said, `It's been a long time since I showed the movie to the audience.' `There were stories in it, and I'm nervous and afraid to be asked questions by many people in a moment after working silently in indifference for a long time. I'm not this kind of person, but this is the first time I've been working for 30 years" he said.

First, I explained the reason for casting Song Joong-ki as Kook-hee. Director Kim said, `I really wanted to do this with Song Joong-ki. At the beginning of the play, you can use another actor, but I wanted to use one actor until the end. In reality, you can find an actor who can pull it off. However, this movie was not the intense genre that audiences want these days. Although it is a crime drama genre, the conflict between characters is highlighted, and there are not many spectacular aspects or action scenes. Also, I'm not a famous director that actors will trust and allow me to shoot the drama genre all over in South America. That's why I decided to cast him in a commercial actor that I can trust."

At the same time, he expressed his gratitude to Song Joong-ki, who trusted him and joined the work. Director Kim said, `I was surprised that Song Joong-ki wanted to participate in the movie from the first meeting,' adding, `That was before I filmed the movie 'Seung-ho. I really want to do '('Bogota', but I'm sorry to do it afterwards because I have something to do in advance.' So 'What do you mean. I'll be waiting for you no matter what. After that, I thought Song Joong-ki played the role of Kook-hee, and he changed the character a lot by fixing the script. At first, if he was a soft and weak boy, he depicted the process of gradually changing as he met people. I felt that Song Joong-ki had a lot of strong aspects, so I thought it would be better to go with a spirit even if Kook-hee's character had nothing."

Song Joong-ki also drew attention from viewers by digesting a vast amount of Spanish lines. In response, director Kim said "Song Joong-ki has a good sense of language. I cast without knowing that, but since I'm a top star, I filmed a lot of advertisements and knew a lot from overseas stars. He himself said he felt awkward doing Spanish lines, but he didn't feel that way at all to others," he praised.

Director Kim was also surprised by revealing that Song Joong-ki obtained his bus license in Korea for the scene of trucking. He said "Song Joong-ki drives a huge truck in the movie, and he got his bus license in Korea because of the scene. They were all actually driven by themselves. Song Joong-ki also suggested the half-length hair first. I would never have had such a hairstyle in my life, but I was so grateful from the director's point of view. It was difficult to propose it easily because it was not a characteristic supporting character but a main character, but he must have put a lot of effort into it. "Other actors also worked hard for the work. Song Joong-ki, Lee Hee-joon, and Kwon Hae-hyo had been in Colombia a month before filming. Actually, it's not easy to do that. I didn't come in a week or two before filming, and I had a hard time learning the set in advance through production"I recalled that time.

Song Joong-ki filmed 'Bogota' before his previous works 'Hwaran' and 'Rogi-wan', but he was the latest to show it to the audience. In response, director Kim recently watched "In fact "Hwaran" and "Rogi-wan" and "The youngest son of a rehab house". I couldn't watch it when it was released. It was hard just to look at the still. In fact, 'Bogota' is a work that captures his long time changes, so if the approach is similar, it is a little upsetting. As many of you may have seen, all directors are bungled cowfish (laughs). When working on this work, Song Joong-ki and Lee Hee-jun wanted to capture their own personality and temperament in the work."

Finally, when asked about his satisfaction with the finished result, Kim said, `I'm always embarrassed and disappointed. I can only see the parts that I can't do. I did my best as much as I could, but that's the thing and there's a belated realization. He also felt cruel to his lack of talent. Since it is a work I made, I am not good at objectifying myself, but I want to discover virtues and fill the gaps by watching the audience's reactions later."
