Art director Chae Kyung-sun of the Netflix series Squid Game 2 unveiled a behind-the-scenes story of the design of the carousel set that impressed viewers.

On the morning of the 16th, art director Chae Kyung-sun, music director Jung Jae-il, and cinematographer Kim Ji-yong met with Sports Chosun to talk about filming on Netflix 'Squid Game 2'.

At the meeting, director Chae Kyung-sun designed the set where the game was played, and he had ideas for subway and Jugong apartment versions besides the merry-go-round" he said.

Director Chae said, `At first, I thought about the subway version instead of the carouselBased on the orange color of Subway Line 3, we designed a unique space where the compartments were divided. I wanted to make it look like I'm going into a subway door, but it wasn't finally adopted.'

Another alternative was Jugong Apartments. He said "I also thought of turning Jugong Apartment into a stage reminiscent of going to work at dawn. We tried to set each generation as a space for game participants to move around," he added.

After all, when asked why the carousel design was adopted, he said, "The amusement park is a space where families want to go together. I chose the carousel symbolically because it also touches the emotional line of the character", he explained.

Director Chae said that in order to increase the visual completeness of the carousel set, we implemented vivid colors by referring to 50 crayon colors. "Emphasizing the festival and landmark feel, it contains the design intentions of the game hall"
