On the morning of the 16th, art director Chae Kyung-sun, music director Jung Jae-il, and cinematographer Kim Ji-yong met with Sports Chosun to talk about filming on Netflix 'Squid Game 2'.
Chung said he focused on putting dramatic contrast on the screen in his music in season 2 following season 1. He said "Hwang Dong-hyuk decided a long time ago that he would write a children's song 'Round Round' in the game scene. I wanted to dramatically contrast the bright melody of the song with the betrayal and tense scenes in the play." Then "I made a new attempt by adding a mechanical sound that I don't usually use. It was intended to maximize immersion, away from simply using familiar songs."
In particular, director Chung heard that 'round round round round round round round round round round round round round round round round round round round round round round round round round round round round round round round round round round round round round round round round round round round' is being arranged in EDM and played in club. I am surprised and grateful."
Director Jung Jae-il noted that this work was also a big milestone in his music career. He "Thanks to the Squid Game, I got a lot of opportunities. He has performed overseas and received various scripts." In particular, he said, "I signed a contract with Decasa, a London record label, so I worked on solo music at the same time."
'Squid Game 2' added music tailored to new characters and scenes, including variations of the main songs used in season 1. Director Chung tried to express a scene that could feel warm even in the tragedy with music"In particular, songs such as Shin Hae-cheol's 'To You' and Puccini's 'Nessun Dorma' have already been selected by director Hwang Dong-hyuk in the script stage."
Director Chung said, `Season 2 has made great efforts to provide a deeper and more intense musically immersive feeling""I hope global fans will be able to give new impression while maintaining the emotion of the original," he said."
Meanwhile, the Netflix series 'Squid Game 2' tells the story of Ki-hoon (Lee Jung-jae), who returns to the game after vowing revenge, and the fierce battle between the frontman (Lee Byung-hun), who greets him, and the real game that begins again. It recorded 26.3 million viewers (view time divided by the total running time of the work) from the 6th to the 12th, maintaining the No. 1 English and non-English integration in the Netflix Global TOP 10 series, and continues to respond explosively on the Top 10 list of 93 countries around the world.
