JTBC drama 'Occi Mrs.' has achieved significant results in Southeast Asia, showing a new possibility of K-historical drama.
According to the weekly chart of the fourth week of December (December 23 to December 29) released by Asia's largest cross-regional OTT platform Viu on the 3rd, JTBC's Saturday-Sunday drama "Ok Mrs. Ok" (English: The Tale of Lady Ok) drew attention, ranking third in Hong Kong and fourth in Malaysia. It is also attracting global fans' attention by ranking at the top of major countries such as Thailand's 8th and Singapore's 10th.
'Ok's Wife Exhibition' is a work about the fierce survival fraud of Ok Tae-young (Im Ji-yeon), an outsider whose name, status, and husband were all fake, and Chun Seung-hwi (Choo Young-woo), an artist who risked his life to protect her. It develops around the stories of slaves and the common people, breaking away from the existing court-centered historical drama, and is receiving fresh evaluation in that it approaches the theme of realistic problems and survival.
In particular, 'Occ wife exhibition' has proven its possibility by entering the Viu top chart despite being a work with the genre specificity of historical drama. The different storylines and strong acting skills of the main characters leave a fresh impression on global viewers, and are well received for their immersive development and chemistry.
