Lee Jin-woo met with Sports Chosun on the afternoon of the 6th and responded to an interview to commemorate the end of the original Genie TV drama 'Namib'.
'Namib' is a drama about the star birth project of Kang Soo-hyun (played by Ko Hyun-jung), a fired star producer, and Yoo Jin-woo (Ryeoreun), a released long-term trainee. In the play, Lee Jin-woo plays Shim Jin-woo, the only child of Kang Soo-hyun and Shim Jun-seok (played by Yoon Sang-hyun). Shim Jin-woo is a person who loses his hearing due to a car accident as a child and is worried about his parents, but he is alone in the bullying that occurs inside the school. In the final episode, he dramatically overcame precarious family relationships and showed the side of a growing character who achieves his dreams while also protecting friendships.
In the interview, Lee Jin-woo spent a lot of time with Ryeo-woon as Yoo Jin-woo and Kim Ji-woo as Yoon Ji-young in the play. He said, "Ryeowoon and Jiwoo have more acting experience than me, so I could learn a lot from them"I love Ryeo Woon's voice tone, so I decided to study my own unique tone." he said. "All three of us are of similar age, so we became close quickly and the atmosphere on the set was very comfortable," he said.
In addition, Lee Jin-woo said he conducted a thorough preliminary investigation to play a character with hearing impairments in the play. He referred to movies and dramas to improve his understanding of hearing impairment and read webtoons 'I'm deaf'"Especially since the webtoon artist is actually deaf, I could get a lot of information", he explained.
He emphasized that he paid a lot of attention to the details of his acting. Lee Jin-woo said, `When people with hearing impairments walk on the road, they always walk to the edge of the road to detect danger. So I tried to apply that habit unconsciously when I was shooting"When I tried to read the shape of my mouth, I had a habit of looking at the other actor's mouth, but I naturally acted like that even after filming was over."
He could feel a little bit of the inconvenience of people with disabilities through this role"I will continue to study so that I can understand and act in greater depth" he said.
