Director Bong Joon-ho mentioned the story behind the setting of the dictator character played by actor Mark Ruffalo in the movie 'Mickey 17'.

Coach Bong Joon-ho recently met with Sports Chosun somewhere in Yeouido, Seoul, saying, `I've been asked a lot repeatedly, and Kenneth Marshall, played by Mark Ruffalo, talked about a specific politician.'

The film 'Mickey 17' is Bong's return to the Cannes Film Festival Grand Prix and the American Academy Award for the film 'Parasite' (2019). It is based on the American writer Edward Ashton's novel `Mickey 7' and tells the story of Mickey 18, a consumable (expendables) put into dangerous work and reprinted after death, when Mickey 18 was printed thinking he was dead during his 17th death crisis.

Director Bong first presented his work through the London Premier and the 75th Berlin International Film Festival before the release, drawing enthusiastic responses from local audiences. In particular, shortly after the current events were over, some speculated that dictator Kenneth Marshall, played by Mark Ruffalo, might be a character compared to U.S. President Donald Trump.

Director Bong responded, `There is a reason why I explained the time table accurately. As I said before, I completed the scenario in September 2021, and I started filming the movie in the fall of 2022"I let off the rhyme. Then, when he met with local reporters at the Berlin International Film Festival, he asked if I had hidden the crystal ball in the corner of the room. That must be the tool used by fortune tellers. Since it is a film festival sensitive to political and social issues, reporters also asked many interesting questions. I've been asked questions about this repeatedly, and to be honest, it's true that I was talking about a specific politician. There's a couple dictator in the movie, and Kenneth Marshall's wife, Ilfa Marshall, is a role that doesn't exist in the original novel."I thought it would be scarier and more cinematic when the dictator is a couple," he said.

When asked about characters who could be a reference for the character, director Bong replied, `It's a little too much to mention a specific country, but there's the Marcos couple, and Romania's Chauescu couple became very notorious in the late 1980s.' He also talked a lot about politicians in the past with Mac Ruffalo, and he asked me to mix and show them what is historically terrible, but ridiculous and bad. It was clearly done, but I think the people who watched the movie projected the local situation in each country. I can't help it because I can't follow him and stop him," he added.

Mark Ruffalo also tried his first villain role since his debut through `Mickey 17```````. Director Bong said, `I was embarrassed at first when I heard the casting newsWhat's wrong with "? Do I look like this? They asked me '. So 'You're an actor, aren't you. When I explained, 'I'm asking you to express these characters, you immediately agreed, 'That's right, I'm a professional'. You're cute just looking at this situation. Kenneth Marshall introduced himself as a character with many flaws rather than a cool charisma.
