The 97th Academy Awards ceremony was held at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles, California on the morning of the 3rd (Korea time).
The award for Best Supporting Actress was given to Monica Barbaro ("Complete Unknown" (directed by James Mangold), Ariana Grande ("Wicked" (directed by John Chu), Perlity Jones ("Brutalist" (directed by Brady Kobe), Isabella Rossellina ("Conclave" (directed by Edward Berger), and Joe Saldana ("Emilia Perez" (directed by Zach O'Diar), and Joe Saldana ("Mrs. Saldana") as nominees.
'Emilia Perez' is a musical film about a gang boss who wants to be reborn as a woman, his wife who knew nothing, and a lawyer who will present a new life. Joe Saldana received much acclaim for his role as Rita Castro, a lawyer who helps gang boss Juan Manitas del Monte (Carla Sophia Gascón) be reborn as Emilia Perez (Carla Sophia Gascón).
Earlier, Joe Saldana continued to win the 31st Screen Actors Guild Awards, the 78th British Academy Awards, the 30th Critics' Choice Awards, the 82nd Golden Globe Awards, and the 77th Cannes International Film Festival, proving his best heyday by adding the Academy Awards supporting actor award.
Joe Saldana says his grandmother came to the country in 1961. Proud to be the daughter of immigrants. I became the first Dominican-American Oscar winner. But I know this is not the last time. My grandmother would have been proud to see me receive the award after singing and acting in Spanish," he said, shedding tears.
