Q. To celebrate the 20th anniversary of my debut, I came back as singer Lee Seung-gi and released an album. How do you feel?
- I'm thrilled and feel more humble. After 20 years of doing one thing, I become more concerned and serious.
Q. This album is a remake album consisting of songs that were consistently loved by the public among singer Lee Seung-gi's numerous representative songs. Is there a reason why you decided on this type of album?
- I thought deeply about how to greet you when I celebrate the 20th anniversary, and the company became a new relationship, and I thought it would be nice if I could afford to look back on my path. Before releasing an album with a new song, I thought it was necessary to reintroduce the public to what kind of singer Lee Seung-gi was, so I chose the remake form.
Q. The lineup of fellow musicians who participated in this album is impressive. Is there a reason why each song is with each musician?
- I contacted people I was close to and thank you so much for willingly joining me. 'Because you're my girl' thought that more people would like it if I was with Cha Eun-woo. After hearing the arrangement of 'Return' and 'Delete', I felt strongly that I wanted to be with the vocalist. 'Story I haven't finished yet' is a song that I personally really like, but I asked because I thought it would feel different when I met Lee Moo-jin's voice. 'Hard words to say' is band music, so I wanted to collaborate with a musician and make the band sound feel better, so I worked with him.
Q. I think it's more meaningful to be united with a fellow musician who was with Lee Seung-gi until now. Is there any episode that happened during the process of working or recruiting?
- It was my first time working on music with Cha Eun-woo, and I happened to see the directing. I recorded it by magnetizing it right away because it absorbs quickly, and that's the first introduction. I'm so satisfied. In the case of Linnim, I usually wanted to work on it so much, but I was happy that it was done this time. The work with Lee Soo was a memorable work, and he asked me if I could raise the second half key more, so I boldly raised it. I hope high-pitched karaoke challengers try it!
Q. The title song is 'Return' which was released in 2012. Is there a reason you decided on this song as the title song?
- When the arrangement of all the songs came out, the arrangement of 'Return' was the most thrilling and I felt that it was the title. And I chose it as the title without hesitation because one of my best popular songs is 'turn around'.
Q. Is there anything you paid the most attention to while working on the album?
- I focused the most on the arrangement. I had a lot of hopes that it would be a new remake, which is fun and I want to hear again.
Q. I think there will be a part where I reinterpreted the previous representative songs with my fellow musicians. Is there a song you want to introduce? I'm curious about the points to pay attention to.
- 'Story I haven't finished yet' is a song that I cherish, and Lee Moo-jin's voice has been added together to make it much more colorful. In particular, this song was sung when I first appeared on the program '1 Night 2 Days' and gave me the nickname 'PR Seunggi'. Personally, I think I interpreted and sang it much better than I did at the time, so please listen to it.
Q. It's been 20 years since I first debuted with 'You're My Girl'. In the meantime, it has been a time to deepen as an artist by being active in various fields. I'm sure there have been moments where you realize that time has passed, but if so, what would it be?
- When I meet seniors at weddings, they're usually all the people I've been with on the show. I think I did it for a long time when I met my seniors who have been in the show for 50 years since their debut.
Q. I think there's something that singer Lee Seung-gi hasn't finished yet. Do you have any plans to continue releasing the album? What genre of song are you planning to release?
- First of all, we aim to make good music when the public hears it. I think the public is good because I like it, too.
Q. This album 'With' is known to contain Lee's past and future. Do you have any goals as a singer, actor, and entertainer in the future?
- As always, rather than having a special goal, I want to continue to enjoy it for a long time, and I think it is enough if there is a place where I am used.
