YB held a listening session for his new album 'Odisei' at the Rolling Hall in Mapo, Seoul on the 17th, and shared the story of the new album.
YB, which consists of vocalist Yoon Do-hyun (guitar, keyboard, harmonica), bass Park Tae-hee, drum Kim Jin-won, and guitarist and music director Heo Jun, was formed in 1996 and has been loved by the leading Korean rock band' through the songs 'Blue Whale', 'I Must Have Loved Butterfly', 'I'll Forget', 'Pearm Candy', 'Let You Go' and 'LoveToo'.
This year marks the 30th anniversary of his debut, and vocalist Yoon Do-hyun said, "Looking back on the 30 years, I wonder how he came. From the beginning, we didn't mean to do it for a few years with a goal. Living hard day by day, it seems like 30 years have passed. I'm going to spend it meaningfully this year. We are also preparing for the best album at the same time, and we are planning to do a long tour."
Above all, on the 26th, the new report 'Odisei' will be released and the 30th anniversary of its debut will be celebrated splendidly. It is the first time in two years that YB has released a new song since the single 'Promise' in February 2023. In this album 'Odisei', he suffered from external oppression and internal conflict, but found his inner strength and hope, and his journey to freedom was depicted. It is about staying in pain and confusion, but gradually rediscovering oneself and finally gaining true freedom by crossing the boundary between reality and fantasy.
In particular, attention is paid to the fact that YB is differentiated from the previously shown musical color. Expectations are high as all songs in this album consist of a metal genre with strong sound. YB, who celebrated its 30th anniversary this year, chose the modern metal genre as 'first step on a new journey'.
Music critic Im Jin-ho, who hosted the listening session, said "YB's rare album came out." The title is 'Odisei'. It may not be possible with a popular stance. This time, all the songs are strong."

Yoon Do-hyun has drawn attention by belatedly telling the news of his cancer recovery in 2023. Yoon Do-hyun, who said, "'I was encouraged by listening to metal music when I was fighting cancer, fell into a trance and focused on difficult performances. The doctor also told me not to drink or smoke, but he didn't tell me to quit the metal."
Then there was confusion over uncertainty about the future as the period of COVID-19 and the disease-fighting overlapped. At that time, the metal was the only thing that caught me. I think I have to listen to it every day like young people play games. It permeated naturally,' he explained. "'I wanted to tell a story of hope at the end of despair, so I wrote such lyrics.'

Another title song 'Rebelion' contains the will of freedom not to be silenced by oppression. In particular, it is a song with junior band X-Dinner Heroes, which attracts attention. YB, which was formed in 1996, is expected to show off a combination beyond its 25th year since debuting in 2021 with 'JYP rookie band' X-Dinner Heroes.
Yoon Do-hyun features the young band XDINARY HEROES. I worked on their albums once. The reason they contacted me was that they arranged 'Pororo' into metal at a college festival, and they were moved when they saw it. I need a singer who can do the grilling singing (a low-toned singing of a beast). They are so cute and good at playing. "I made it because I needed a song to enjoy on stage. During the monitoring process, he said it would be nice to pre-release it, so we released it first."

Drum Kim Jin-won "Quick drums are music to the guitar, rather than the style we've been doing. So my feet hurt a lot, he trembled. "I used to copy and perform, but I had to follow the old style again. Metal-style drums have also changed drastically. I thought about how much I could do and pulled it out as much as I could."
Then "YB's 30 years in this album. I was also worried that Do-hyun (Yoon) suddenly said he would do the grilling technique, but YB's new ship has departed with hybrid modern metal. I was happy to do this inside YB. It's like an album that I got as a gift."
YB will release the pre-release song 'Revelion' on the 5th, and release the entire new song 'Odisei' at 6 p.m. on the 26th.
