On the 12th (local time), the famous British music media NME announced '2025 Essential Emerging Artists for 2025' on its official website.
Every year, NME selects 100 teams of emerging artists to play in the global music scene with music critics and journalists from around the world. TWS (Shin Yu, Do Hoon, Youngjae, Hanjin, Ji Hoon, and Kyung Min) is the only K-pop boy group to be included in this year's list.
NME says "K-pop boy groups are usually known for their grandiose concepts and intense songs, but TWS is not. They explore today's youth and approach it more realistically." The media also predicted that it is only a matter of time before those who have captured the hearts of Koreans in 2024 with a lovely and sincere sound will fascinate the world.
TWS, which debuted last year, is loved for its lyrics that remind people of their youth and music that features a refreshing melody. The debut song 'First Meeting Didn't Go As Planned' reached the top of the 2024 Melon annual chart, and they won a total of 13 awards at major awards, including seven rookie awards.
Foreign media's spotlight on TWS also poured in. Their music was selected as the best K-pop in 2024 released by leading popular culture magazines such as NME, Billboard in the U.S., and Dazed in the U.K. Last year, American music media Consequence selected TWS as the 「Breakout Act of Year」 and introduced their performance as representatives to lead the next generation of K-pop.
TWS, which laid the foundation for the rise in global popularity amid hot interest, will hold its first fan meeting '2025 TWS 1ST FANMEETING <42:CLUB> IN SEOUL' at the Olympic Park Handball Stadium in Songpa-gu, Seoul for three days from the 14th to the 16th. They proved their powerful ticket power by selling out all seats in the 3rd round with only advance reservations.
