YB vocalist Yoon Do-hyun said at a listening session of the new report 『Odisei" held at Rolling Hall in Mapo, Seoul on the 17th that `Metal music helped me when I was fighting cancer.' `Even the doctor told me not to drink or smoke, but he didn't tell me to quit metal.'
Consisting of vocalist Yoon Do-hyun (guitar, keyboard, harmonica), bass Park Tae-hee, drum Kim Jin-won, and guitarist and music director Heo Jun, YB was formed in 1996 and has been greatly loved as a representative Korean rock band through its signature songs 'Baekwhale', 'I must have loved Butterfly', 'I'll forget', 'Baekha Candy', and 'Send You' and 'LoveToo'.
On the 26th, the new report 'Odisei' will be released and the 30th anniversary of its debut will be celebrated splendidly. The album 'Odisei' contains a message in which the protagonist, who suffered from external oppression and internal conflict, discovers his inner strength and hope, finds himself and begins his journey to freedom. It is about staying in pain and confusion in the beginning, but gradually rediscovering oneself and finally gaining true freedom by crossing the boundary between reality and fantasy.
Music critic Im Jin-ho, who hosted the listening session, said "YB's rare album came out." The title is 'Odisei'. You can ask how this album suddenly comes out. Musicians feel like they are opening themselves up hard, but they may not be able to do it for long with a popular stance. Of course, I know the music goes hard in YB performances. But this time, all the songs are strong."
Yoon likes and listens to metal songs composed of strong styles for a long time. I wanted to do it, so I ended up doing it. I lost interest in metal when I was young, but at some point, it became a sub-genre and I became interested. When I was fighting cancer, I was encouraged by listening to metal music. I fall into a trance and focus on difficult performances. The doctor also told me not to drink or smoke, but he didn't tell me to quit metal. It's a difficult road because I discussed it with the members, but we got to do it together."
Kim Jin-won said, `It comes out with music that matches the quick drums to the guitar rather than the style we've been doing. So my feet hurt a lot. ```` he shuddered.
Regarding 'voyeurist' in track 1, Yoon Do-hyun means "acoustic", but the title itself contains negative meaning. It's an album that makes the whole story, so it's about the start suffering from extreme pain. It's a modern metal song." It is about a society that is not interested when interest is needed, and is interested when interest is unnecessary, he said.
YB will release the pre-release song 'Reblion' on the 5th, and release the entire new song 'Odisei' at 6 p.m. on the 26th.
