The Seoul Metropolitan Government announced on the 9th that it will use Jamsil Main Stadium as an alternative baseball stadium for the LG Twins and Doosan Bears to use while building a new dome stadium on the site of the existing Jamsil Baseball Stadium. Doosan and LG will use Jamsil Baseball Stadium until 2026 and play at Jamsil Main Stadium, an alternative baseball stadium, for five seasons from 2027 to 2031.
It was Jamsil that LG and Doosan consistently wanted as alternative stadiums. He also paid attention to the size of the stands. Gocheok Dome and Mokdong Stadium were mentioned as alternative stadiums in addition to Jamsil Main Stadium. Both clubs have actively argued that Jamsil should be held in Jamsil in consideration of the symbolism of Jamsil and the commercial district near Jamsil Stadium.
When we first talked about it, the stands were 12,000 to 13,000 seats. It was the maximum considering safety and movement. Jamsil Stadium currently has 23,750 seats. The number of sidewalks will be expanded to the west, and a separate walk-only passage will be installed on the east entrance and exit, separated from the Olympic-daero underground section and the construction area of the Jamsil Sports and Meis complex development project. Jamsil Dome Stadium, part of the 「Jamsil Sports and MICE Complex Development Project" conducted by private investment, will open in March 2032. It will be built with a size of more than 30,000 seats that can attract international games with a closed structure rather than an open-close structure.
